Hi ladies,

I haven't posted in forever, so I feel like a newbie all over again :)

I was in Macy's the other day and started up a conversation with one of the ladies in cosmetics. Some how we got on the topic of hair products and she told me that she had been using a Pantene conditioner everyday but she had to throw it out because her hair started coming out. I was like  because I was con washing with a Pantene conditioner every freaking day! I had been noticing quite a bit of hair in the drain, but since my hair is long (below brastrap) I figured it just looked like a lot because of the length. But I stopped using it and now it seems like less hair is coming out.

I'm hoping some of you sage ladies on the board have the scoop on this...

I would ask what else she was doing. I co wash with Pantene also, and I've never noticed any extra breakage or shedding while doing it.

It's never made my hair fall out. As a matter of fact, it always made my hair feel nice and soft and so easy to detangle.

I never had a problem with Pantene.
I'd be curious to know what her hair regimen is... if she even has one!

The old pantene is loaded with cones. Maybe she was experiencing buildup (from the cones), which caused dryness, from the moisture not penetrating to her hair. And we all know what dryness does...

I don't see it as a problem if you clarify often.

I know a lot of people has experienced Pantene and did not like it. BUt it works for me. I do understand about the build up though and if you are not careful I believe that may contribute to the hair loss. But that's with any product. I mean before I came on board with LCHF I really didn't understand anything about build -up and my behind completed beauty school.

Pantene works for me that's all I know.

I noticed that so many people in RL don't know about clarifying, so it's most likely just build-up from all of the cones. Clarify as needed!

I use pantene on and off and have never had any issues. The BF uses it too and until he cut and donated his hair, it was down to his butt. I use to tell him he should be one of the Pantene models.

I don't know about making hair fall out. But dry out like straw, yeah. That's what it does to my hair, which can lead to more serious problems. Not everyone is willing to use the kind of shampoo needed to get out cones...me, for instance. Also...isn't Pantene loaded with amino acids/proteins? That can be a problem for some people too.

But anyway, as far as hair falling out, there are probably other factors that she didn't mention. If you are worried at all, just switch conditioners for a while, perhaps a cone free one, and see if you have less hair in the drain. :)

Thanks ladies!

I haven't clarified in forever so I'll try that. It does look like it's stopped falling out (the little bulbs are on the ends so I don't think I'm getting breakage) since I switched, but it could just be my mind playing tricks on me.

I love Pantene but now that u mention it....For years I have been using Pantene daily w/my oils before pulling hair back under my phony pony. I have been noticing some weakness in my hair lately. I thought it was due to the hair color I had been applying to my front hair line dripping to the ends which is why I went back to henna...but now that you mention this I am going to temporarily switch up to see if the situation changes. I do clarify once every 6 weeks with ION Balancing Cleanser.
