Does anyone know? I'm dying for a cup of Joe right about now. I know I should be asleep, but I'm studying for my real estate exam and would love a cup. So I was just wondering what effect if any, does coffee have on your hair.

oh man I sure hope not. I drink 2-3 cups per day or I am no good to anyone:look:  :lachen: I've been looking online all night and haven't found one link connecting coffee to jacked up hair with actual evidence:lol: Thank goodness. In fact, I've only found links to caffeine preventing hair loss.

I know that's right! I just may have to go bald if anything comes up to support such an idea. Starbucks is my friend:)

There was a thread or a comment I think about the effects that caffeine has on certain vitamins..how it makes them ineffective...I can't remember which vitamins it effects though.

Good if it just interacts with vitamins but if it did with hair growth, Iwould be bald!!! I am a bonafide Starbucks addict!!!

yeah I've actually lost weight since I've picked up my coffee habit:lol: I guess the warm liquid makes you feel full- well for me it does:D ... and it does give you an energy boost too:lol:

i have heard that caffeine can inhibit hair growth but it must not be true because we have sistaslick on others on this board that prove that theory wrong.:)

Oh for real. Please post.

I'm drinking a cup of home ground Starbucks, as I type. I drink coffee in the morning, coffee for lunch, and coffe with dinner, then I usually have a cup or so with my book before bedtime. I know I gots it sooooo bad.

My new sweetie came over one day about 11am. I turned around and he was drinking from a cup and adding cream and sugar. I'm like "oh did you fix you some tea" and he said no, I heated up the coffee. That coffee was from this morning like 6am.

I wish yall could have seen his face when I took the cup and poured out the reheated microwave sludge he was about to drink. I then proceeded to grind some fresh beans and put them in my special old time perculator. It gives any kind of java the best taste. He was amazed. But wait I put in some raw unprocessed organic sugar (it is just delicious, not that bleached white stuff) and added cream and handed it back to him. If you could have heard that first moan he made after he tasted it. He almost got it right there in my kitchen.

He still talks about the first cup of coffee I made him. I'm sorry this thread was about hair, my bad.

 I love this story. Only coffee lovers would truly understand.

There are so many contradictory reports about caffeine and coffee in particular. I've learned from nutritionists that coffee (in moderation ;) ) stimulates the metabolism, as SweetCaramel1 said. Stimulating the metabolism means increased blood flow thus healthier hair. I drink one cup of coffee each morning, brewed fresh from beans.

me love coffee  My Senseo is my best, best friend:kiss:

Girl, just google the words "caffeine and scalp" and just about every link has something about caffeine applied to the scalp preventing hairloss or something:lol: There is even a caffeine based shampoo called Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo for "preventing hairloss and increasing regrowth" I can see people now thinking about doing a coffee rinse.:lachen:

I had to look at this thread again cause I don't know about giving up my coffee!!! This story is soooooooo cute!!!!

I have to have coffee every morning before I even shower otherwise I'm just useless to myself and my hair is almost backstrap. I do think that I need to drink more water though because my scalp is becoming extra itchy again.
