does combing your hair everyday make your hair fall? i wear protective styles but i have a habit of taking my hair out everyday lol

I don't think combing your hair everyday will necessary make it fall out, unless you are raking through it or it's dry/damaged. I only use a comb once a week.

I learned the hard way (thinned out the right side of my head) that combing every day does not work for me. I comb with a an actual comb once a week, just before I wash my hair, and that's it. Finger detangling is time consuming, but much, much more gentle on my hair.

Textured hair can look coarse but it's very fragile…if you can, try and learn the art of finger combing.

Funny that you should bring this now.....I just started a new routine. I've always combed my hair at night, and applied some moisture before tying it up with a scarf. I decided just last week, that I was no longer going to comb it at night to limit the damage using the comb.

In my case, I have a significant amount of new growth due to a long stretch with my relaxer, so my hair is more prone to breaking.

It has only been a few months since I first heard of someone who doesn't comb their hair at all with a comb - they just finger comb. This is a new concept for me, but I think it will be helpful. Once a get a touchup, I'm sure that I will be using the comb more.

i don't comb my hair until wash day which at a minimum is weekly and its with a shower comb. i think unless the hair is flat-ironed silky straight or pincurled there's no need for daily combing. some hair types or textures may be more prone to breaking/splitting from daily combing if its not necessary. if your hair is in a protective style why is daily combing necessary? wouldn't this defeat the purpose?

I roller set my hair weekly, so I comb daily. I don't get much breakage and I just catch the shed hairs. Some days, I may skip combing at night, but I don't comb in the morning. It doesn't bother me to comb daily. I'm not losing less hair either way.

When I do air dried styles, I don't comb, just finger detangle if I need to, and comb on the wash day, but it's not difference in hair if I comb daily.

Flat ironed styling: comb every day; I tend to have a lot more shed hairs plus minor breakage when my hair is straight so I have to comb everyday
Air dried styling: finger comb two times a week
Wash day: comb pre & post wash

I comb on wash day only. Even if my hair is flat ironed or rollerset, I do not comb my hair. I finger style my hair only and I bantu knot my flat ironed/rollerset hair at night. This works for me and my hair is about waist and my daughter's hair is at about hip length.

I comb every day otherwise my hair clumps together, dreads and cause issues. Daily combing removes sheds and keep tangles away. Wash day goes a lot easier and smoother when sheds are properly removed throughout the week. I have increased wash day tangling and breakage when I don't comb daily.
