I know people use agave nectar as a substitute for honey for sweetening foods, so I don't see why you can't use it in your hair. I've seen agave nectar as the ingredient in some products too.

Really...interesting:yep: I bought some to eat but after more googling it didn't seem to really be that healthy an alternative.
 
I've seen it listed as an ingredient in a couple natural hair products, but i've never thought of using it on my hair. I guess it might have similar emollient properties like honey. I use as a sweetener in homemade lemonade and as a substitute for maple syrup.
