Does anyone here use coconut oil as a pre poo?

If so, could you share your technique, Please? I mean do you liquify where you apply etc?

Thanks!

I sometimes use coconut oil as a pre-poo. I liquify a dime-size amount in my hands and run my hands through my hair from root to tip. I do this about 3-4 times until my hair is covered. Sometimes I will also lightly massage my scalp with the oil. Once I'm finished oiling my hair and scalp, I pin my hair up in a bun, sleep with the oil in overnight and wash out in the morning. HTH.

I use the Coconut oil as a pre poo, I use the one called Vatika which has coconut oil, amla oil, henna & lemon extracts, I apply the oil on my scalp and then I apply some throughout my hair and put a plastic bag on and let it sit for about an Hour or 2. Then I shampoo out with my Shampoo bar and apply a herbal hair rinse and let me tell you, my hair and scalp feels good:grin:

I do. I use it overnight on damp hair....my hair is very easy to detangle and I'm transitioning...me likey :)

ETA: I rinse my hair with water and then towel blot dry (this givs my hair the optimum 'wetness' spritzing with water doesn't cut it)

Then I apply enough so that my hair is saturated but not dripping (I live in the Caribbean so my coconut oil is always liquid) cover with a plastic cap and go to bed

Yes, I do..mixed with PARVENU LEAVE-IN. I then add mustard oil with a heat cap covering the plastic cap for 30 minutes or more or just the plastic cap for hours. I rinse well, squeeze out the water, apply Capilo milk/honey conditioner layered with QP-reconstructing moisturizer for as long as I can; gentle comb under shower then honey/milk rinse {$7.00 a 1/2 gallon at local BSS}-rinse out next shikaiki/tulsi water rinse. NEXXUS leave-in, whatever oils I'm feeling, single back braid and air dry. I've found this gives my hair shine and a nice, behaved look.
The process takes hours but well worth the time.

I do too. I apply it at night after I moisturize from root to tip but I do concentrate on the ends. I'll put on a satin scarf and cap and wash in the morning. Or I'll apply it the morning I'm going to wash for about 2 -3 hours and then wash. Either way it works.

I use a mixture of coconut oil and conditioner everytime I prepoo. If it has solidified I will place in the microwave for like 30 seconds and then slather in on after putting on my conditioner. I have tried to use it when it's still solid but it's kind of hard so I just microwave it.

There's so many ways to do this. If you're stretching, I like to warm up the coconut oil, then add shikakai and alma oils to a nice conditioner. Mix the ingredients and add to the hair. Put a plastic cap on. I either sit under my heating cap or use my hot towel wrap. I allow to marinate for 30-1 hour.

Sometimes I pre-poo overnight with oils only.

Then shampoo/oil wash/deep condition/air dry or rollerset

Coconut oil is great because it helps stave off breakage.

OT: By the way, Vev, I'm really loving the Alta Silica brand. I have bad Runner's Knee. I know it's probably too soon to notice any meaningful difference. Maybe it's just the placebo effect, but I'm feeling much better...:yep: Thank you so much! Good luck with the coconut oil.
