I thought it was just me, but my hair does not like pure Olive Oil either. No matter how I use it, it always makes my hair hard. I no longer add any oils to pre-shampoo or do any hot oil treatments, because if oil just sits on your hair to lock in moisture it can't really penetrate the hair strands. Rather it just leaves a film on your hair? With the exception of Emu Oil, which is one of the few oils which actually penetrate hair strands.
When I tried the Cayenne Pepper soaked in Olive Oil treatment I ended up with a very dry and flaky scalp. It was some kind of contact dermatitis, which was a nightmare to cure or bring under some control. No my hair and scalp definitely does not pure like Olive Oil.

This might be one of the reason why:BlackCardinal said:Pure olive oil doesn't agree with my hair either. It makes me shed like crazy and my hair feels weird afterwards. If there's just a little bit mixed in with other stuff then it's fine, but something about pure or mostly olive oil is murder on my hair. I wonder why? :scratchch
I still haven't been able to find a certified, quality olive oil at gourmet or health stores, just online. I am curious to see the difference in my skin and hair, as well as experience the difference in taste and health benefits.Mizani_Mrs said:I'm not faithful on doing pre-poos so i'm really unsure of how my hair behaves. But this is something that I was thinking about...perhaps if we ladies were using true olive oil (expensive) not the cheap kind found in regular stores...maybe we would reap the true benefits of the oil. I thought about this and i will purchase a bottle as soon as I can get to a gourmet store (and have $20 to spare)...
