Does Afro-textured hair thin less with age than European hair?

I have noticed many older black women--especially those who are natural--with really thick hair (see video below).

However, I seldom see this amongst women of the majority group. They tend to have thin (often gray) hair that is cut short. If certain hair types do thin more with age, is there some sort of scientific explanation for this?

Also, are certain hair types more prone to graying?

Hair thinning with age is mostly to do with hormones.
If a natural head and someone with straight hair were to thin at the same rate it I would assume it would be less noticeable on the person with natural textured hair.
