Does a 2a need to do something "special" to her hair to get an afro?

Depending on the length of her hair, she can try to do a tight straw set with a really good setting lotion or gel for a semi-hard hold so that her hair doesn't immediately fall apart or too loose during the separation process.

It may not come out looking close to an afro at all, but that may give as tight a curl as she could possibly get with such loose hair.

Tell her to blowdry and tease her hair out... thats what I did to make my relaxed hair look like a "fro" erplexed

I know when white girls blowdry sometimes their hair gets poofy

My SO is dominican...I think his hair is 2a, and the closest he comes to getting a fro is when I take his braids out, and even then, its not really a fro, just puffy hair
