Do You Use Your "Good" Products on Your Weave?

I'm on my second full install - so I'm still pretty new to weaves. I have this mentality that even though it's real hair, it's not MY hair, so I don't want to "waste" my good products on it like Sabino, Sebastian Potion No 9, or my special DC mixes. I mostly use stuff I would NEVER use on my real hair like ORS Oil Moisturizer and Pink Oil Glosser (no offense to anyone that uses them, but for my transitioning 50 wks post hair that don't do the job and I don't like the ingredients.) or stuff that I have left over that no longer work for me.

I've come around...A LITTLE. I used some TIGI today (Ego Boost & After Party Cream) before blow drying and flat ironing but I'm still not trying to use my heavy hitters on it. What about you guys? Are you using your Joico, or Kenra, or other salon products on your weave? Would you consider it a waste?

ETA: I don't abuse the weave though - I wash and condition it and use heat protectant. I'm as careful detangling it as I am with my real hair, and I protective style it at times....I just don't use the secret stash on it.

I sure do..I try to use really high quality extension hair so using drug store products is offensive. I treat my entire head the same not excluding my weave hair from conditioners or rules such as low heat, and low manipulation.

hope this helps.

I'm the inbetween, in that I don't use low quality products on the weave, but I don't use my 'better' products on the weave either, simply because I feel that the weave itself does not need the care of the more expensive products which are aimed at giving healthier hair.

As long as I moisturize it (Pink glosser), dont use too much heat on it and wash with moisturising shampoo (CON) I think that's good enough.

Yeah - that's the way I am too...

Maybe if I was using super expensive hair I would feel differently, but it's BSS Goddess Remi.

The hair I use is not expensive either, though it's not cheap.

You'll know whether your product usage is sufficient by the way the weave feels and looks.

I usually buy high quality weave so yes I do use my high quality hair products on it so they'll look great and last longer.

When I wore weaves I used Extensions Plus hair. As much as I paid for that hair, I felt I needed to use good products to maintain my investment. When I decided to start taking care of my own hair, the reason I had Joico, Silicon Mix, Elasta Mango butter and some other "good stuff" was because I had purchased it for the EP. As a matter of fact, that's why I bought my Chi too.

My real hair is underneath it and the products come in contact iwth my scalp so I still use good products.

I also use extensions plus hair. My hair plus the closure costs me close to $800 so &ell yeah I am going to use good quality products on it. This hair will last me for years.

Just my good shampoo and conditioner. But it really depends on what hair I'm wearing at the time. Straight hair I don't use any products on. With the curls sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It depends on what the style calls for. I don't use my top of line expensive products on it though.

I don't blame you. I would treat it exactly like my own if I spent that much.

That hair isn't that cheap. If you plan on using it again, I would use quality products on it. If not, don't worry about it. It'll serve it's purpose.

ITA with you...sometimes alot of product weighs the hair down. my go to conditioner is suave coconut for a $1.00. It has never let me down and I wear virgin indian hair primarily (and the occasional bohyme). I save my splurge products and treatments for when I'm wearing my own hair.

ETA....i have about $500 worth of indian hair that i've used twice and if i do another sew-in this year will make 3.
