I dont use gloves, i dont get to all the parts when using it and i like to feel what im doing. No negative reaction so far..

I used to wear them, then one day got lazy and didnt bother..that was i believe last year..no burns yet...touch wood:yawn:

Just dont do it if you have an injury ( of any kind) on your hands/fingers....YOWCH!!!!!!!!:nono:

Sayining that im not recommending for anyone to do it w/out gloves

No.
I like to use the brush but I have to buy another one. So no---I've never used gloves. Because, well--I need to be able to 'feel around'. Can't do that with gloves. Prolly a 'mental thing' anyway because it's not like I can feel anything when applying with the brush,so who knows?:ohwell:

Still--I suppose the biggest reasoing for this is the fact that....I'm just really stubborn like that.
Of course, I'll read the directions (including the part about wearing gloves) just in case a new addition have been made. I'll put the paper down---and then proceed to dip my fingers right into that cream solution! I follow the other directions. Just not THAT one.

So--I AM attentive to detail and direction.
...I just don't listen ...

I have been self-relaxing for MANY years and never used "traditional" gloves; however, my nails would turn yellow in the process...not pretty! So, several years ago, I started using a product called Liquid Glove that I purchased from Sally's. I apply it to my hands and allow it to dry. Liquid Glove is fabulous becaue it protects my hands during the relaxing process (no more yellow nails), while still allowing me to "feel" what I'm doing.

 Oh Wow!!! Do you have a pic of this?

No. I always grease my hands w/ the same petroleum I use to protect my hairline. I've never had a problem and I've self relaxing off and on for 15+ years now.

Yes, I do (see below). I'm sorry I got the name wrong...It's actually called Gloves In A Bottle.

i usually dnt use gloves but i use a comb and perm brush so there isnt much that gets on me. Also before when i used my hands i never experienced any problems with skin discoloration, burning ect

Ashamed to say that I never use gloves....no staining or anything on my nails either nor any different feel to me hands.

my mom never used gloves when applying mine, hers, my sisters, or anyone elses....im pretty sure that you should though...if it can cut through aluminum, imagine what it does to your skin over time.

Yep. I used to always be hit or miss about wearing gloves and one day while relaxing the relaxer got into a cut on my finger that I didn't know was there. Talk about pain!! Since then, I use gloves every time. I just make sure to buy snug fitting gloves. I think it truly is a mental thing because you really can feel just fine if you have gloves that suit your hands.

I applied a relaxer without using gloves, and it was not good. My hands had a slippery coating on them for a while. Then the next day the skin started peeling and my hands felt like sandpaper.

I dont use gloves. Its makes the wholoe process a little difficult to apply to my hair. It does however make my nails yellow for a couple days. Anywho, we're slathering these chemicals on our scalp, face, and neck, im pretty sure our hands can handle it.

It depends on how much new growth I have. If I don't have as much as I would like to, I don't wear gloves because I need to feel exactly where I am putting relaxer. And when I don't where gloves, I base my hands really well. I wash my hands and reapply the base every 10 mins or so until I'm done. But if I do have enough new growth, I use the surgical latex gloves with minimal problems. I didn't vote because it just depends.

Sometimes I do but most times I don't.

It makes my hands feel tight afterwards but I can't feel as much with gloves. I've never had chemical burns.
