Re: Do you think it\'s practical for a child to wear...
Yeah when I was that age, I would have had lint, dirt and small animals living in my hair at the end of the day! No child can play with all that fro' in their face.
Re: Do you think it\'s practical for a child to wea
Hmmm. My hair looked like that as a kid- my didn't know how to take care of my hair- plus it was the 70's so big fros were in.
I love the look now that I'm grown and don't have to dealt with all that hair on my head with no real 'control' over it.
I don't think I would have a child of mine with the hair like that- just too much to deal with when lil kids do NOT want to sit still for knot patrol!!
I wish my own hair looked like that, however!!

NO. But I also dont think a child should be subject to wearing those hideous Uggs either, so ...
Once in a while, it's cool. I've tried it on my own daughter and trust, there's nothing but screaming and crying the day after. Not something I'd want to put my kid through everyday, especially as hard as she plays. She might come home with a patch yanked out

Oh...this is absolutely adorable.
For natural hair to do that everyday on a GROWN PERSON would require:
Wake up (hopefully from 4 or 5 plaits). Undo the plaits and go.
However...IF...the natural head slept on wild hair like that, I would get up, condition wash in the shower, detangle, shake and go.
Now if a KID had that hair...it would get dirty and tangled from playing I am sure. They may even want a headband or a pony puff to keep it out of their face. But it would require condition washing at the end of the day (you would probably be giving them a bath at the end of the day any way), plaiting up thier hair and then allowing it to dry over night. Undo it in the morning and go.
If the child liked getting their hair done each night (bonding and talking with the Mom or Dad, feeling like they are getting to "stay up" a little longer cause they have to get their hair done

My daughter has similar hair to Mel's B daughter. I learned the best way to look after my daughter's hair is to wash it regular and comb the hair when it is damp and put it in large plaits and it became very easy to look after. For everyday wear, not really, but for the weekends, yes.
Re: Do you think it\'s practical for a child to wea
I saw them both last year -- they definitely turn heads they are so lovely and their hair is amazing. Phoenix is BEAUTIFUL and her hair is actually 'straighter' than it appears on that photo. It looked very low maintenance like you could just wet it and comb it no problem. She had looshish curls but a lot of it. Scary's hair is more springy and also very nice. Again they were both very BEAUTIFUL !!!!
Re: Do you think it\'s practical for a child to wea
I just let my daughter wear her hair like that this weekend, since it's starting to get warm outside. She likes it down...when we got to church Sunday, my mom kept trying to smooth her hair down, like there was something wrong with it. I had to tell Mom to leave it alone so she won't mess it up. I usually keep it braided so I guess people aren't used to it, but my daughter loves it...she said, "I look like the women on your computer, Mama." (Meaning LHCF.

I had no screaming and crying the next day. I just did a conditioner wash when she took her bath and put it in Bantu knots...she's back to her 4 twisted ponytails today for school. I think it's a great weekend look for little girls. BTW, I kept two small little bantu knots in my daughters hair while the rest was kept out.
