Do you still use mineral oil?

I feel like the mineral oil debate is the same as silicon, it just depends on how it interacts with YOUR hair and using it in moderation is key. I know lots of people love that Queen Helene Cholesterol, as long as it works for you then it doesn't matter if people scorn mineral oil, right?

To answer your question, the main products that I plan to use as ultimate staples do not have mineral oil. I think the products I use as alternates do though. I do stay away from products that have mineral oil high on the ingredient list, especially if it's listed more than once. I feel the ingredient in high concentrations gives me greasy hair.

I guess you can try the Queen Helene regular cholesterol one, I've heard tons of good reviews about it and bought it a while back to try. I had to return it though, had too many products.

My hair will murder me, bury me in the desert, resurrect me, re-murder me and throw me into the ocean if I use cones in anything other then a reconstructor. So I stay clear of them.....

But Mineral Oil, I just don't see the big deal :ohwell:. I use a couple reconstructors with MO and if I come across a product I'd like to try w/ MO as an ingredient I'd definitely still try it. If you like the Cholesterol's I say, "GO FOR IT!" :yep:.

i don't stay away from the stuff. my conditioner has it in there. as long as it isn't the main ingredient, i'm cool. i use cones like nobody's business as well.

No I do not...

Mineral oil will sneak up you in the long run. Immediate gratification now, but eventually your hair will suffer. If your hair is continuously not getting the proper moisture due to a barrier, then you will see the effects of that soon enough.

There are too many great products out there without for me to choose one with mineral oil. I pass and it's not hard to do.

I have stopped using products with mineral oil in it since focusing on growing my hair long. In the past when I was not really focusing on length my hair did grow but like a PP said there are other products out there that works just as great that do not contain mineral oil. I just want to have my hair at its optimum health.

Apparently the Aphogee 2min has mineral oil pretty high in their ingredient list. The 2 minute doesn't really do much for my hair so after I get through with it, I won't revisit and will being to search anew for a new protein treatment that I can use. I stay away from cones and mineral oil as since I'm heavy handed, I get build up easily and it just makes it worse.

I stopped using products with mineral oil somewhere in 2008, I think it was one of the main offenders which prevented my hair from getting the correct amount of moisture it needed. My guilty pleasure is definitely Aphogee 2-min, it is now the only product in my stash that contains mineral oil. I like to use it for pre-poos and co-washes, my hair seems to like it and I really like the smell too, the way I see it if it works for you, go with it. I would not use a DC or moisturiser that contained mineral oil though, it would dry out my hair and over time, jack up my hair.
