I've never heard of this before. I'm waiting on responses as well.
Does that protect the hair from the chems or something?

I TIHNK IT CAN BE DONE WITH ANY RELAXER, BUT I DID RESEARCH ON THIS BOARD AND ANOTHER AND A LOT OF LADIES SUGGEST DOING A LIGHT OR HEAVY PROTEIN TREATMENT ON YOUR LAST WASH BEFORE YOUR RELAXER

Yes you should do a heavier protein treatment prior to getting any chemical service. Some thing like Aphogee, EMergencee, Dudley's DPR etc. Doing this strengthens your strands because during the relaxer process your hair is structurally weakened, doing a protein treatment kinda builds up your hair. It is also suggested that you do a hardcore protein treatment followed by a moisturizing treatment about 2-3 weeks after a relaxer (lye or no-lye) again, this builds up the strength of the hair taken away during the relaxing process.

I agree with Alli77 and I do this faithfully the wash day before each touch-up and about 3 weeks after. However, I haven't tried a strong protein treatment yet like the ones she mentioned, just Keraphix.

Recherché.Beauty, sometimes before relaxer time I don't feel like doing it either but it's really worth it. I'm always very glad I did.:)

I agree with this I wish I wouldn't had slacked and continued doing this. Cause if I did I wouldn't have had the setback I did.

I actualyl add protein to my relaxer. I use Style One Products for this.
http://www.styleone.com/benefits.html

I started doing this because, as they advertise:

ADD PURE PROTEIN DIRECTLY TO HOME COLOR, PERM, STRAIGHTENER, BLEACH, HIGHLIGHT, or RELAXER DEVELOPING SOLUTION

Benefits include:

Replaces protein loss caused by previous chemical treatments.
PROTECTS: eliminates further damage to the hair shaft.
Creates "Even" Color & Curl.
Reduces dry or frizzy hair caused by lack of protein in the hair shaft.
Creates a more even perm, without damaging your hair.
Greatly reduces hair breakage caused by relaxers.
Easy to use. We'll provide DETAILED instructions with all orders for ALL uses.

They also sell some kits on Ebay: Here is the site:

Alli77 thanks for posting this! I will be getting a relaxer soon & will def. do this.

This is good to know.
I went to the hairstore to get Emergencee, it was $51, I was blown away!
I have to remember this for when I decide to get a relaxer.

Well, I started doing this because a few years ago, my hair broke off badly after relaxer touchups. I mean it was to the point where I could see hair all over my bathroom sink and floor and on the clothes. It was sad.

All I can say now, is that my hair is healthy and happy, but I think it is the combination of things that I have been doing.

This is just one thing that I have been doing for the past 6 months or so and it seems to work well.

I don't like do intensive protein treatments all the time. I think I may have had 2 Emergencee treatments in the past 6 months, but I do use keraphix every couple of weeks or so.
