Do you guys use your Aveda DR treatment as a "deep" or "rinse out"?

I bought a tube (against my better budget judgement ) today and I want to give it a try.

I did not want to buy the entire line. I just cannot justify that cost.

Do you guys think the line is better when used together?

Also, the tube says 2-3 min and rinse. At this price, I think I am gonna need this stuff to marinate under a plastic cap for a bit!

How do you use it?

I feel I get best results with all three. I do leave it in the recommended time so it is a rinse out product for me. I do not follow up w/moisturizing conditioner. I have had the regular size now for more than one year and believe it will last until December (total 14 months of use-not bad). btw I wasn't wowed the first time I used it. My hair was very damaged..it took about 4 tries and truly now I couldn't ever be without it.

When I use it (since it costs so much) I leave it on for 30 mins under a plastic cap then I rinse it off. I love how soft my hair feels after rinsing it off.

I definitely leave it for at least 15-30 mins. It's great on its own- and if you want to be prudent, I say just get the treatment. I use it with the entire line once a month and it sooo much better:yep:...

When I use it I let it marinate for about 15-30 minutes. I only use it 1-2 times a month now. Rather than buy the whole line just stick with the poo & the treatment :yep:

I use the Aveda DR Treatment as a deep conditioner. Every 3rd shampoo I apply the DR Treatment and put on my shower cap and log onto LHCF for 30 minutes. Then I rinse and follow up with my Aveda Elixir Leave-On conditioner.

I let ALL my Aveda conditioners sit for 30 mins to an hour w/ body heat...shoot for that $$ I'm getting the most out of it :lachen:

I have the DR treatment and the regular DR conditioner and have had GREAT results w/ both, but I have yet to use them one after the other and I don't have the shampoo. I've heard the whole line is great together but the results I've had mixing and matching w/ other Aveda shampoos (I used the shampure or brilliant w/ the DRtreatment and sap moss w/ the DR conditioner) has been perfect!

I usually use it as a DC, but sometimes as a regular conditioner (if I'm in a rush). I've found that I don't NEED the conditioner, so I just buy the shampoo and the treatment, and it works fine.

I use the whole line, I shampoo weekly then use the treatment as a DC for 20 mins with heat, I rinse and apply a little of the conditioner as a leave in.
I have tried other methods of using the products and I find this way works best for my hair.

I initially bought the entire line but when I used the shampoo and conditioner, tiny broken bits of hair were coming out in my hands. Yet, when I used the deep treatment, I had no breakage. I returned the shampoo and conditioner and now just stick with the deep treatment.

Hey ladies I used it last night and just left the dr treatment on for the recommended time and it still works either way.. I have used it under the dryer too, works well.... I have noticed after continued use it has really done wonders to my hair... This is definitely a product line u need to stick to for a while and the results will speak for themselves.....

OT: Chenai, its almost time for your baby.... Congrats..:drunk:

Thank-you Soonergirl, he can't come soon enough, I am tired of being pregnant lol

I also agree that over time the results of this line are amazing.

thanks for the tips ladies.

Chenai, I never thought of using the conditioner as a leave-in. that sounds cool.

I may pick up the shampoo, too. I have not been that impressed with Aveda's shampoos. I like Shampure.

I am staying at a hotel that is also an Aveda concept spa. The only problem is that they are not set up to do my Pure Privilege points! :ohwell: They told me they are "almost" there. :look:

Anyway, they have a sauna here. I was thinking of applying the treatment to my hair and sitting in there for a bit.

OT, but have you guys ever used the Rosemary Mint shampoo? :nono: Did not like that one. It has vinegar in it. (the conditioner does, too) Not sure if that is why, but that shampoo gave me NO slip. It actually took my slip away!

Have you tried the DR shampoo. It is pretty good. maybe they can give you a sample?

The ladies at the Aveda salon said they did not reccomend the Rosemary Mint. They highy reccomended DR and Sap moss. I bought DR. I used it the same day and I REALLY like it. I an now an Aveda user. Although I dont think Suze Orman would agree with my hair care budget.

I use the 3 parts of the system and I feel as though they do work together. I dc with #2 and #3 of the system for 20 minutes each with heat and i just love the way my hair feels.

O yea- I clarify before using them and my hair seems to do better.

HTH
