I have the next few days off from work so I decided now would be a great time to flat iron my hair, but it's suppose to rain tonight, tomorrow & possibly twice next week; now I'm second guessing my style choice...

My dilemma has me wondering if anyone else has planned a hairdo around weather conditions...

Chime in !!

yes! If it's going to be a rainy, drizzly day, I wear my hair in a bun. If it's really hot, a wash and go. And I also do my hair according to what I will be doing that day; I bun at least twice a week because in my piano class we have to wear headphones and it's easier to do so in a bun than to squooooosh the headphones over my wash and go hair :3

If I'm straightening my hair, I ABSOLUTELY check the weather! It is too much time and effort to get my hair straight for me not to be able to wear it down and/or for the weather to not cooperate. For curly styles, I don't really care.

I see I'm the only one so far that chose "Yes, always". I don't "style" my hair often, it's in a bun or puff basically every day. Since I switch between creamy water or oil based moisturizers and CFCG I'll decided what my hair needs for that day dependent on weather and dew point. Even in a bun my hair will frizz. I'll style (twist/braid out or straighten) only when the weather is mild.

if its really humid or rainy ill try to wear a bun or cover my hair until i reach my destination.

If I know the weekend will be sunny and nice with sunroof open type weather, you better believe I will get a flat iron in. When I'm riding down the street with my sun roof open with my shades on and my hair blowing in the wind, you can't tell me nothing!

Actually, I plan the weather around my hair. Every time I flat iron, it rains. The inches of rain is directly proportionate to nappiness of my unrelaxed hair.

whenever it's humid, too hot or will rain, i never wear my hair out. the weather has to be just perfect for me to do so otherwise my hair will completely misbehave. this is perfect b/c this keeps me in twists, and buns much more which is great b/c i'm trying to grow my hair out as much as i can within these 2 years.

I'll usually shy away from straight or sleek styles when it'll be damp or too humid outside, but I just had to flat iron my hair today LOL.

We'll see how it holds up...

I wanted to straighten on this past Monday, but since it's going to be rainy until Sunday, I'll put off flatironing until Saturday night.

The only time I will 'plan' around my hair is not to straighten my hair unless it's cool and dry outside. The least bit of humidity will make my hair revert so I usually only straighten during winter months, if at all.

I always plan my straightening around the weather. Any amount of humidity spells disaster for me. I live in the worst weather location in the nation (Cleveland) which means I very rarely straighten...

I plan my flatironing on the seasons. I check for the weather forecast on weather.com playing close attention to humidity and rain b/c I want my hair to last! This something I realized that comes w/ the territory of being natural.

i just had this dilema yesterday..I wanted to flat iron my hair so bad because i'm meeting up with some high school friends that I haven't seen in a looong time. Wanted to show off my length so bad. Well... I ended up flat ironing and it rained and my hair just poofed and looked a mess and extremly dry. The get together is tonight, so now I gotta figure something out..maybe ill just end up showing off my wash n go....I tried wrapping it after i put some ORS Olive Oil Cream on it and it turned out pretty cute..slightly wavy..but I wanted it bone strainght.... sooo what to do? what to do?

I'm having a straight hair issue as well; the way I pin-curled it left it looking a hot mess so I dunno what to do. Ugh !! Should have kept it in a bun :nono:

If it's hot I don't go anywhere near anything heat related. Bunny tails (cuz my hair can FINALLY get in a pony but looks like a bunny's tail!) and braids/cornrows are my friends. Dunno what I'm going to do when it gets cold though.

I want to flat iron my hair once a month once it cools down. But, basically I don't since I've started my transition. It's one of the reasons why I decided to transition to natural.

Always always always. My hair cannot have a bad day. I have enough bad things to worry about that I don't have control over. ;)

If I know it will rain I usually wear a bun.

If I know it will be humid and my hair is straight I carry something to pull it up to create a cute up do.

Yes.

When its cold and rainy (especially rain, I DO live in Portland) I wear a bun or some other put away protective style.

When its hot and dry, I put it away as well and wear a hat.

oh yes.
I check the humidity factor. high humidity is thee worst for a flatiron job.
I was so pissed the last time I flatironed cause all of a sudden it wanted to rain and be all humid when I had an event to go to. Best believe I sprinted from my car 100 yd dash straight indoors, dodging raindrops like a ninja, people looking at me crazy, lol.

Yes & No I flatiron only when the humidity is low & I need a trim every 3 months. I have one last trim to get by no later than mid-June then I won't trim again till Early-mid September. I have always found it pointless to flatiron in summer as a natural cause your hair would revert.

Nope. If I want to flat iron my hair it can be a flash flood outside during the summer and that will not stop the show. I just make sure I wrap my hair on the way to the car then shake it out once I reach my destination.

I said yes, sometimes only because I have been consistently protective styling.

But when I am wearing my natural hair I ALWAYS plan according to the weather. If its going to be raining or humid out styles are a no go unless it is a wash & go.
