do you detangle before restyling?

I see some youtubers going from one style to another without detangling and it makes me cringe. Like wearing a twist out for almost a week and then probably twist both sides and put that into a bun. All I can think about is the shedded hair all tangled up in there and how long they prolonged their detangling

I don't detangle if it's been less than a week.

I don't. During the week I may change my style once or twice. However, I do finger detangle once a week on wash day.

I think they detangle off camera to save time- no one wants to watch a 10 min tutorial with half being detangling.

Not really. I may pull my hair between my hands which removes enough hair to let my fingers go through it to style it.
