do you deep condition after henna?

I recommend a moisturizing DC after a Henna treatment because Henna can be drying and can mimic protein. There is a thread on the topic of Henna.

I do....however I found that when I add coconut milk to my henna my hair does not feel as dry as it normally would with a henna treatment when I only add green tea and olive oil to it...when I add coconut milk it helps with moisture...and I can just rinse it out and just add my leave ins....

Do you do it for color/highlights or for conditioning properties only Angelbean

I do it for color, that why I don't add conditioner and other ingredients

For conditioning, I love how henna always leaves my hair feeling smoother and strong. Henna was the best thing I did for my hair honestly... Lilmama1011 are you doing it for color?

I apply Henna once a month. I was planning to use Coconut Milk when I do a treatment at the end of this month. I have heard that a Dc is not necessary afterwards but I will probably do it anyway.

When you use the Coconut Milk do you still get the color benefits? Also, do you wait for dye release before applying?

Do yal apply over the whole head or just new growth. I was reading you don't have to apply all over after the second application and it darkens over time so it turns from orangey or red back to burgundy if you keep applying. I always did full head but I think this is my third or fourth application . I wouldn't mind just doing new growth. It would be quickly and less hard to part and move on to the next parts. Also could use a half bag instead

I definitely DC after a Henna Rx with a Moisturizing DC'er. Usually Steam.

I also rinse my Henna out with a Moisturizing Conditioner.

ETA: I always do it all over and I do it for Color.

I dc every time. I do my entire head every time. I always mix with coconut milk and never have problems with washing out or dryness. I do it for both conditioning and color. I usually mix a big batch, separate into freezer bags and freeze. When I'm ready I take a bag out the night before and let thaw for 24 hrs for unfreezing and color release.

Yes you still get the color benefits when using coconut milk. I usually mix my henna *any brand I get from my local Indian grocery store* in the morning before work/class so when I get home I can just apply it this helps with color release with cheaper brands...but if I use Jamilla body art quality henna I can just mix and apply right away because the dye releases right away.

I have been doing henna glosses (Shea Moisture DC) about once a month for a whole year. For the past few months, Ive been doing it every two weeks.

I apply it from root to tip each time and just recently started DCing after. Its important to cover all my hair bc it seals the cuticle so nicely.

At first, I would just cowash it out with VO5 but I like it even better with the DC step and then cowash. I can get away with skipping the DC bc I do a gloss. I stopped being lazy, lol. I get really good color. Nice and dark burgundy.

I LOVE this HHJ!!
