I'm on week 10 (2 more to go) and what I do is conditioner washes every 4 or 5 days. This really helps out a lot. I also deep condition under my heat cap afterwards and it helps keep the breakage down, plus it does not dry the new growth.
I use my creamiest most silicone-y and most detangling (like Elucence too - just wanted to give a non-silicone-y option /images/graemlins/tongue.gif ) conditioners at this time.
I also use more serums at my hairline - to make sure any manipulation is mitigated by a little more slip than I normally require in that area.
I also lay off rollersets. They come out very boopy looking and I don't like to manipulate even that much when I need a touch up. I try to just airdry in a wet bun overnight and bny morning the hair is mostly dry so I just fix the bun so it's presentable and roll out....
OH! and BRH mentioned a shampoo by Lanza that she said really stretched her new gorwth out one time...
It's some sort of non-chemical straightening shampoo product. Just wanted to add that option. I've never used it - but she said it really worked well on her. She said she was suprised.
The shampoo that helps alot with regrowth is by L'anza and is from their 'straight line' range of products. I used a sachet once ages ago when I had alot of regrowth and it really did elongate the curls/waves. I was very suprised as I didn't know a shampoo could do that. The texture was MUCH softer, smoother and less wavy /images/graemlins/laugh.gif I liked it so much that I'd def. purchase it. check out www.lanza.com and read from the Straight Line section to read the blurb. It works. There's also an accompanying conditioner and serum. I think I only used the shampoo though.
I just got some samples the other day from lanza so if you want, call them up and ask them to send you samples of it to try out? They usually send the full range so you'll get the poo, conditioner & serum.
