I've been wrapping my hair for the past 12 or so years. I always wrap it in the same direction and noticed that on side always has a better bend and smoother appearance to it.

Tonight I'm wrapping in the opposite direction hopping that I will get a better bend and smoother appearance on the other side.

Ladies, do you always wrap in the same direct or do you alternated between clockwise and counter clockwise? Why? Which direction gives you the better look?

Oh this was definitely good to know. I have always been wrapping my hair toward the right and that side always looks better. So I guess It's to the left now :P

nope. i alternate directions. i will also do a center part and a cross wrap. much less stress on the hair.

i alternate, because my one side gets shorter than the other if i dont.

in addition to that i cross wrap when im stretching my relaxers bcuz of my new growth. my head gets soo tender and i want it to lie as flat as possible so cross wrapping really helps when i havent had a relaxer in awhile.

I alternate, but my BFF does not, and one side of her hair is shorter and grows slower than the other.

I only wrap now after a roller set. If I do it every night my hair is so limp and just hangs there. Pin curls give me a lot of body and it looks great and no stress on the hair. I pin curl every night before bed and I won’t go back to wrapping again.

I don't wrap at all anymore but when I did, before LHCF, I always wrapped the same direction and my hair was shorter and thinner on one side. After LHCF, I started alternating and my shorter, thinner hair grew in thicker and longer.

When I was relaxed, I alternated. I noticed that if I didn't...my hair would only lay in one direction and it was frustrating when I wanted to switch my part. It also seemed like it had a little more life when I didn't force it to lay in one direction all the time.

Just curious, why don't you wrap anymore?

I feel like it's too much manipulation for my fine hair.

Also, it seems like the longer it got, the harder it was to wrap. One side would come out perfect and the other side was jacked up! lol

I wrap in the same direction b/c I only silk wrap a few times a year. Wrapping is too much for my fine strands.

I think the crosswrap is much healthier for the everday wrapper.

Nope, it really does thin out that one side. I either cross wrap or comb all my hair back and set it on a huge roller.

I don't even like wrapping. Too much manipulation.

Until LHCF I did the same direction always. I never knew why one side of my hair was shorter in this one spot than the other side. Now I alternate or comb back (pin curl) and put my satin scarf on. When I pull back and pin curl I don't have to worry about the stupid bending in the front of my hair.

I agree w/ Lovin--wrapping is too much manipulation for my hair.

I wrap the same direction every time for about 8 months now and I haven't noticed any difference in the length/growth of my hair. I do think a lot of that can be due to brushing/wrapping the hair very tightly. I gently comb then finish with a brush just to get the hair in place but I don't really comb through or try to get it tight.

btw my hair is short by choice right now

I cross-wrap its works pretty well, but not better than the traditional wrap...too bad the traditional wrap doesn't agree with my edges :ohwell:

I alternate so that I won't get a certain effect when doing it in one area constantly. I also change how tight I do it and how far away I tie the knot from my hair etc to prevent breakage.

When I wrap I usually wrap in one direction before I go to bed then when I wake up I wrap in the opposite direction and leave it while I get ready in the morning. This gave me a similar bend on both sides. however, I think I'm going to wrap less when i straighten my hair and experiment with cross wrapping instead.
