i wont do it exactly like that i'll "tuck in" the ends in a bun like style

I don't think it's childlike. I've worn a similar style with a bigger bun on top and on back using a jumbo kanekalon braid, like this:

my hair is tired of basic bun obviously ince the top part is now shorter than the back

This is beautiful and I just added it to my inspiration pics. I think whether this part looks childlike or not totally depends on what you do with the hair in back. If you have this part and two ponytails, yes, it seems young. But if the hair in back is bunned or twisted up or otherwise looking grown and sophisticated, it seems totally age-appropriate.

There is a judge on the show Chopped that sometimes wears her hair parted off just like this except she bands the top section then joins it into the bottom and just wears it as a ponytail. I actually looks like a more elegant version of a ponytail and I've worn it a few times myself. I really like the style as you posted it too. I'll also be doing that one.
