Do Sisterlocks Feel Like Natural Hair?

I'm thinking of getting Sisterlocks but I love the feel of my natural hair so I'm hoping y'all will say it feels like natural hair. TIA.

Bottom line is that I don't think the "grid" parting pattern Sisterlocks are known for worked for me.

I took my hair a loose for vanity reasons. My crow are is very thin and I couldn't stand to see my scalp (there) so I would n-ev-er wear my loc's loose; I was too self-conscious of the issue.

I've had children tell me mine feel like yarn . But yes I think they feel soft and so does my husband . Especially after a fresh shampoo and deep condition. I love my sisterlocks! Here is a pic of mine 10 years strong.

Edited to add...I have very thin hair. I WISH my sisterlocks were as thick as most that I've seen. But overall I still really love my hair

I've had mine in for 6 days now and I ADORE them. To answer the question, they definitely feel like my natural hair but a little dry.
I had my test locks in for about 5 weeks, and washed and conditioned 4 times before my installation. After I'd conditioned my test locks they felt fluffy and soft. I guess I have the most coarse textured hair 4c? So there was no slippage of the testers, so if it becomes unbearably dry I might condition for a few seconds after a wash.

Side note: the lady in the 3rd pic of the op is British (or lives here). Her hair looks beautiful in that pic, as do all the pics on her insta. However I saw her on a train once and those pics do no justice at all...her hair is stunning! Stunning. She got off at the same stop as me and I was walking behind her just mesmerised

Welcome to the family! I will never wear any other style than locs again. If these don't work out then I would shave my head and start over. The low maintenance alone is worth it. I can't imagine pressing and relaxers and all that again. How do you ladies do it? I spritz with water/oil in the AM, wash once a week, condition 1-2x per month and if I want my hair to look cute I'll roll it or braid it at night. I hate that I didn't loc up sooner.

I'm now at almost 10 months and I love them. My hair is soft and still maintains my natural curl pattern with curly ends although my loctician stated yesterday that my hair has locked.

I do not have the grid pattern prescribed. I didn't think that would work for hair since I have puffy but low density hair. What this means is that I can't make straight parts in my hair. However, my hair looks very full --like a full curly/wash-n-go.

I've never worn my hair any other way but down. When I went for a retightening, I was asked "how do you wear your hair?" and I was dumbfounded.....like the only way I know is down.

But I do understand your concerns about scalp issues--that's why I didn't adhere to the grid pattern for my install.

Can you choose not to have a grid pattern? I don't like it so that's another sticking point for me.

I had a fear of the 'scalpy look' too because my hair is so thin. I really struggled the first few years with wanting to restart them with thicker locks because of this. I definitely think that women with thick/dense hair benefit the most from sisterlocks
