Do Lye Relaxers in the tub go bad??

I purchased a tub of Mizani Regular from a member here on the boards probably about a year ago. I haven't used it and was wondering if I wanted to use it for my next touch up would it be ok?? Are there any expiration dates for things such as this?? I like how my hair turned out when I got it professionally done but usually I always self-relax....WHAT WOULD YOU DO LADIES...WOULD YOU USE IT??

They have a shelf life of 3-4 yrs.

I would like to know about this as well. I have a jar of Affirm relaxer that's about a year old.

I don't know of any. You could contact the company with the lot number to find out when it was produced.

Please contact the maker and ask them to help you decipher the encoded manufacturing date of their product. Although you may have purchased it a year ago, the store you purchased it from may have had it a while, then the warehouse before that, etc. I had a terrible experience with a relaxer ten years ago that I used faithfully and found it on sale and thouhgt- yeah, my lucky day! Went home applied it, all was Ok, went to rinse and patches of my hair went down the drain. I have never used another traditional relaxer since then. I phoned the company and after some doing I spoke with a manger/scientist who explained about the encoded dates, and that the product should have been pulled from the store's shelf and not sold! She also explained that the chemical compounds break down after a period of time, and can be kept more stable if stored in the refigerator.
All the mystery can be solved with one phone call. Girl, it ain't worth losing you hair over! If you learn to read their code you will never have to worry.
