I do them sometimes, but I have to admit that sometimes I wonder if there's really any benefit to them...

I use to do them in the past but I kinda get the same effects if I just deep condtion(10-15 min). Besides its one less product Ill have to buy.

Well, I normally do hot oil treatments, but I had starting slacking in this department big time. I did my hair last night, and I used my hot oil treatment mixed with my conditioner (this is how I mainly use hot oil treatments). I slapped on some Salerm 21 and put my hair in a bun (of course) and let it air dry. I was so amazed at how shiny my hair ended up. I'm still amazed. So, I'm thinking, it's got to be the hot oil treatment. When I tried the hot oil treatment prior to shampooing my hair, I didn't get the same shine. I'm going to stop being lazy and start doing my hot oil treatments (mixed in with my conditioner) on a regular basis.

I notice a difference but only when I use the right kind and those specifically for hot oil. My hair feels soft, strengthened and lubricated (???)
I like l'oreal natural therapy and tcb self heating hot oil.
I tried proclaim 7 but didnt notice anything special hair felt weighed down.

Yes, they work really well for me. But, only the ones I make myself using EVOO and whatever I may mix with it (i.e. 7 Wonders Miracle Oil). I don't like the results of the store bought, premixed hot oil treatments.

I really like the results of the hot oil with a cap and heat (10-20) minutes. I get better results when it's applied to hair after a shampoo. Then it must be lightly shampooed again, to get out most of the oil.

H.O.T are the bomb for 4a/b hair..especially w/castor oil! I just did one last friday and my hair is still really soft and moisturized...I do frequently conditioner wash and I use salon quality products but nothing beats a castor oil hot oil treatment...I mix it with a lighter oil like jojoba or sweet almond oil..and leave it in overnight or for a few hours...I then slowly shampoo it out with DAX Vegetable Oil shampoo and VOILA..hair that is moist and soft..I don't like to use "moisturizers" on a daily.. I just use a leave in spray and this helps to combat any dryness w/o product build up..

I find that I have fewer scalp issues when I do pre-shampoo hot oil treatments. I try to focus on my scalp by applying it there first with an applicator bottle and massaging my scalp really well and then working it down to the ends. I also add oils to my conditioners, but that focuses mainly on the actual strands of my hair.

Now that is interesting. I use to do hot oils as a pretreat before shampooing and I really didn't notice any difference for all the extra time and effort so I stopped. But here's the thing, when I started adding the natural oils to my conditioner, that is, AFTER shampooing -- hello, hello soft, moisturizied (NOT oily) and bouncy. A definite and positive difference. My conclusion, putting oils on BEFORE shampooing results in the oils (and their benefits) being washed out by the shampoo detergents. Putting them in AFTER (i.e. mix with conditioner) results in retaining benefits of the oils. This is my 4b relaxed experience.
