abuse your relaxed hair?

I don't know what it is, but lately I havn't been paying as much attention to the relaxed part of my head as the roots. I don't mean not to, it's just that since I have this ultimate goal of cutting off the ends, I subconsiously don't put on as much conditioner or moisturizer or am as gentle. I don't even like how it feels anymore. I like the curly soft roots, which is unfortunate because the ends are the most fragile because they are ends and more so because they are also relaxed. I should be paying MORE attention. I don't want to do a big chop so I definetly need my ends to hang around for a litte while. Is anyone else experiencing this?

LOL! Yup, yup. I mentioned doing this in a post, and pookeylou told me to stop. I just put my hair in cornrows though so no more will I be doing that.

Chimma...I would still go ahead and take care of your permed ends as if they were your natural hair...it makes transitioning easier and even if you are going to eventually cut off the permed ends...your hair will still "represent" during your transition because it will still look moiserized, healthy and strong...no since looking broke down if you dont have too...

Also it gives you practice for taking care of the natural hair you will eventually have...When I transitioned...because I took care of the permed ends...it bought me some time...allowed me to keep my length...and allowed me to practice handeling the natural hair...my hair thanked me the whole time...

Surge...says that it will help split ends and breakage...I didnt have that problem on my natural hair...but I love the softness it gives when I spray all my hair...So if you are going to keep your permed ends...even for a few months more...surge will keep it looking good...until you are ready to cut it.

Go on and get your moneys worth girl!!!

Relaxed hair becomes a real annoyance to style without heat when your hair is only partially relaxed. You can't wear a puff or a really loose style because it looks strange to you even if other people don't notice it as much. The relaxed hair is also drier, thinner, and breaks more. It's so hard. You get torn between the desire to cut cut cut and the wish to have more length before you cut.

Uh yup...

Now that I know it's coming off I feel free to cut it, and use more heat than normal (not too much though)

Hmmm, I'll have to think about if I used to...

Now with my cut, there's no way I'm going to abuse my relaxed ends b/c I want to keep the length!

Nope.

Right now I have more relaxed hair than natural so I am trying to hold on to what I've got!
