Do any naturals carry a moisturizer with you to refresh during the day?

I noticed that my 4B hair loves moisture and it is really thirsty and I think the summer weather is making it worse. I was thinking about spraying it with a leave in conditioner, Hawaiian silky or something similar throughout the day to keep it moist. Does anyone do this? Is it over the top? Will it really help with the moisture balance?

It is amazing the difference hair type makes. My daughter is 4A and her hair retains moisture way better then mine and we basically use the same products.

I bought the sample sizes of Qhemet BRC, AOHC, and OHHB for that express purpose. I also got the Indian Macassar Oil spray for sealing. In the summer I don't need it as much, but come winter my hair needs all the help I can get. I've been thinking of making a "refresher" ayurveda spray for during the day with some of the really moisturizing powders, but IDK yet. I'm 4a and have a terrible time retaining moisture without sealing, I don't know what hair type my mom is, but she hasn't deep conditioned in 40 years and her hair's perfect. Go fig.

I am not natural but texlaxed, and durning the summer months I do bring moisturizer to work because my hair at times does dry out in the heat.

I have noticed this summer that my hair feels drier, so I have started to carry my spray bottle around so I can spritz my hair when I feel like it.

No, but you've reminded me to buy a small spray bottle and start carrying it in my purse. Thanks!:yep:

No, I don't carry moisturizer around with me. If I felt like I had to then that would let me know that there is something wrong with my hair, my regimen, or my products.

If my hair was dry by the middle of the day no matter how much I moisturized and sealed, then I would wonder about my porosity and whether or not I needed more protein.

If that wasn't it then I'd have to wonder if my hair styles were suitable for the weather. I live in southern Cali so I don't wash n go in the summer because the sun is too serious out here. It's the same reason I wear spf 55 everyday and cover up as much as possible. So I wear protective styles like buns and weaves.

I would also check my products and how I was using them. Are the ingredients effective? Do they penetrate? Do I need something heavier? Should I dc more?

I just don't think it should be necessary to have to moisturize all throughout the day.

My hair doesn't like weaves and braids. It is not long enough to bun. I cannot do twists and such because my hair is fine and it was damaged by weaves and my twists look crazy insane. At this point, the best looking style on me is an afro because the shrinkage hides my thin ends and I get mad compliments on it. When I get more length I will cut the ends.

I use some of the best products on the market but maybe they are not penetrating or maybe it is my texture. As far as deep conditioning and stuff, I am seriously lazy. I want my hair to be easy. All that baggying and DCing and stuff, I just can't get with it. My hair is growing and it does not appear to be breaking. It is just dry feeling to the touch. Maybe I am just overreacting. Maybe that is how my hair is supposed to feel. I don't know.

I do..although I don't use it much. It is a mixture of rosewater and aloe gel. I may spritz it in my palms and rub my hands together then kind of twirl the dry hair with it into spirals.

no...i would be mortified if someone caught me spritzing my hair. i'm already the only natural in the office and i get enough weird looks as it is.

Natural Type 4

I leave the house with wet hair from co-washing. I use leave-in conditioner & castor oil. I let it airdry. No need to moisturize thereafter.

SoCal weather is very different from NC weather. You've got a lot more humidity to deal with in the summer, as well as up to 100 degree days, and it can get a lot colder in the winter, so you may not be able to go without moisturizing during the day. I know in the summer I really don't have to, but in the winter I better moisturize during the day. I can apply pure castor oil to my hair and there will be nothing on my hair by noon. It is what it is.

That said, I do think that if you're going to be constantly moisturizing during the day, you're going to be spending the same amount of time that you would doing something like DCing. I don't know how you can get around doing at least that in your climate, and I think it would genuinely improve the feel of your hair. If you cowash in the morning, DC on dry hair the night before. That, combined with a good leave-in condish and sealant, I think will make a big difference in how your hair feels.
