DIY Weave Queens...Questions!

I'd like to do mine in a month...I'm just curious on how:
a. Long it took for you to finish
b. How long was the hair you used/which kind is the best for your money
c. Did you leave your hair out or not?
d. If you did it for the first time and used Youtube, who has the best tutorial?
e. How long did you stay weaved up/how did you take care of your hair underneath?
f. If you had layers, did you cut them yourself? If so, how?
g. What advice would you give a first timer?

I have a style in my head...I want bangs, and I want layers...I also want my hair to be two toned...Light at the bottom (haven't figured out which color) and black on top...Help a sista out! lol

I am a self weaver and it always take me longer to do it on myself than on clients.

a. Long it took for you to finish about 6-7 hours
b. How long was the hair you used/which kind is the best for your money
I use 16 inch hair. I like virgin hair or hair processed only for texture because you can get multiple installs from it.
c. Did you leave your hair out or not? I usually leave a little out at the part for a more natural look.
d. If you did it for the first time and used Youtube, who has the best tutorial?
e. How long did you stay weaved up/how did you take care of your hair underneath? I usually leave weaves in for about 4-5 weeks. I usually co-wash daily or at least 3 times a week if I am wearing curly hair.
f. If you had layers, did you cut them yourself? If so, how? Yes, I cut my own layers. I do it with a razor and just do it section by section. I slightly lift the hair and lightly tap down from my starting point to create natural looking invisible layers.
g. What advice would you give a first timer? Take your time and be patient. Make sure to have plenty of thread and plenty of pre-threaded needled. Make a whole day or evening of it.

Make smaller braids for a flatter more undetectable weave. A net will make the weave more secure. Use good quality hair. A weave is only as good as the hair that you wear.
