DivineInspiration does bi-weekly protein treatments.

I think that this is something that I may need to start doing.

Does any one else do this?

Im still not sure when I need moisture and when I need protein and if I need a light or heavy protein. I know this is all experiemental but I need help...

Anyone get great results doing bi-weekly protein treatments? And was it light or heavy protein?

TIA

Don't feel bad, I'm still trying to figure this out too! So far, I've been trying to balance the moisture/protein treatments. For example, if I do a protein treatment (such as Aphogee 2 Minute or Nexxus Emergencee), then I'll follow with a high moisture/low protein conditioner (such as Lustrasilk Shea Butter+Cholesterol). For times when I don't do a protein treatment, I may just use a deep conditioner with protein (ORS Replenishing Pack) and a moisturizing leave-in. Like I said, I'm still experimenting, though.

I feel like I should say something, but I'm not sure what to say. :look:

I'll say that doing regular protein treatments keeps me from ever needing heavy protein...even before & after relaxers. My transitioning/natural hair doesn't need as much protein, but I still keep them to at least once a month to ward off breakage at the line of demarcation.

I only use light proteins...Nexxus Keraphix, Joico's K-Pak, etc. Since I stay on top of the light protein, I don't need Emergencee or ApHogee.

I fell into bi-weekly protein because in the beginning, I didn't really know what I was looking/feeling for in terms of knowing when my hair needed protein. I didn't like waiting to see breakage and THEN doing the protein to stop it. I wanted to take a more preventive approach to it. So I started doing the mix of a moisturizing con (Humectress or J/A/S/O/N's Sea Kelp) with Keraphix (or Aubrey's GPB) and an oil (EVOO, Aceite 3, jojoba) and my hair would always feel amazing. I noticed that my hair would be really soft but strong, and detangling wouldn't be as much of a challenge. So, I decided to try doing this every other week, and I noticed my breakage issues went out the door. My hair looked and felt better in general, and maintaining that portion of my regimen wasn't an inconvenience.

So my point is that the frequency of protein varies from head to head, and I stumbled on mine through trial and error.
