Is regular old bottled spring water okay or does it have to be distilled? I have been using arrowhead but now I wonder....

distilled is better cos you can guarantee absolutely nothing (not even minerals)in the water

I agree. In fact, most bottled water is fortified with minerals.

I use distilled...but will use spring water if I have to before I use tap water. I try to buy 2 gallons everytime I go into any store regardless if I need it or not. I've got plenty on hand.

I used bottled water, which is usually spring and I have had not problem, with my hair being very dry. It feel a lot softer that when it used to be washed in tap water. If bicarbonate of soda is added to tap water, it softens it. I haven't used distilled water yet.

Is there a difference between distilled and purifed water??

I think there are still some type of minerals in purified water. Distilled water has 'nothing' in it. I would use the purified water if that's all you could find.

<font color="brown">I DEFINITELY prefer distilled water. You can feel the difference as soon as you pour it on to your hair. Also, it makes a difference when used in a ACV rinse (as compared to tap water). You get a much softer result with the distilled water. In the past, I even tried to use filtered water, but it just was not the same.

Like Sweetcocoa, I also purchase it everytime I go to the store. I think it is .58 cent per gallon in Walmart.

I have both spring and distilled water in my possession. I also have no problems with the spring water as far as rinsing and other things go. But I agree with the others. Distilled is much kinder to the hair than tap. I'll probably get more distilled water at Kroger for .89 a gallon. But when I'm out of distilled, I'll take Val's advice and add a Tablespoon of baking soda to my gallons of spring water to make it softer. Toodles.

Well, I just had to purchase a bottle of distilled water while I was in the grocery store today. I can't wait to use it for my final rinse to see how much of a difference there is.

I use as a final rinse because im too lazy to manipulate the bottle and all that while washing. Also, I would go through 2 gallons if I used it to wash...

i used bottled water to wet my hair, applied conditioner for condition wash, rinsed out with tap and used distilled for final rinse. put hair in a bun. hair stay moist and soft for days. i was scared my hair would be hard to comb after my last fiasco with a condition wash but this time it was smooth sailing when i added distilled water to the mix. God bless you all.

SO YOU USE DISTILLED WATER FOR YOUR FINAL RINSE OR DO YOU USE IT TO WASH YOUR HAIR PERIOD

Until I move somewhere where there is better water...I use it for my entire shampoo. Since I shampoo at least 3 times a week I only need to lather up once. I use just enough to dampen my hair, rinse thouroughly, then condition. My final rinse is not as thourough as the one after my shampoo(unless I did a deep conditioning with oil) because I like to leave a little Elucence in my hair.

I decided to try a final rinse with distilled water today. I LOVE it. I thought my hair was soft after using regular ole tap water, but it is SUPER soft after rinsing with distilled water. I am sold, and I will definitely keep distilled water on hand.

Even if you have a water softener do you still use distilled for your final rinse, or is that just if you have hard tap water?

You could still give it a try (especially since it's pretty cheap) even if you do have a water softner. I don't think it's just for folks who have hard tap water. Try it, you might like it too.

I have a water filter, not a softener. But I did notice a difference when I did my final rinse with distilled water. Like Allandra said, I thought my hair was soft before. Whoa! What a difference! I bought 4 gallons this afternoon. 1 gallon costs only $0.50 or $0.60 at Wal Mart.

I sit the whole jug in a bucket of hot tap water while I shower and/or rinse the conditioner out of my hair. By the time I'm done the distilled water is nice and warm.

A couple of years ago I started using bottled spring water to wash my hair. The water in the house where I was renting a room was loaded with chlorine and it totally messed up my hair.

The bottled water worked great. I remember telling my hair stylist about my bottled water shampoos and she totally laughed at me. But she let me come to the shop with my hair already shampooed and conditioned.

But last spring I got a shower filter and I noticed a big difference. But now I am curious about the distilled water final rinse method.

Thanks girls for your reviews.
