for some odd reason, stopped my hair from shedding (for now anyway). In a fit of rage

(from the breakouts) I decided to "do something" with this new bottle of vitamins ( I had bought two b/c they were on sale). Instead of throwing it away, I wanted to see how it dissolved in water, then I wanted to see how it would separate in oil. Finally I decided not to waste the Olive oil, so I poured it, with the dissolved biotin in my hair, waited 5 minutes and rinsed it out. I didn't lose a strand, not one. I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not. I may have lost my mind

lmao.. girl ur crazy.. not a bad idea tho..

*this was edited..sometimes the sentences I type make me wonder how i passed english class*

so you dumped out the powder from all the biotin capsules? What was the measurements of the evoo and the biotin powder?

I have started adding the Biotin 5000 to my conditioners (Deep conditioning)because I do not want to deal with the breakouts. I was not getting them with the previous ones I was using. My hair definitely had a different texture after. Like stronger. Bonjour.

Sorry peeps for taking so long to reply, been busy...I used a 16 oz. cup (one of those big blue cheap ones you get at Wal-Mart in the 8-pack) filled it 1/2 way with water, added about 10 extreme biotin pills (1500 mcg) and let them dissolve. Then I added the olive oil until the cup was about 3/4 full. It had a golden frosty look, it had no lumps whatsoever. My biotin completely dissolves in water (that was the point of my experiment). I poured it over my head when I got into the shower, left it on for a minute, and the rest is hair history. I am going to try it again in 3 days when I wash/comb my hair again and see what happens. I'll keep yall posted.

That is one of things I love about this board and I am going to try it as quickly as possible.

Okay how about I tired this last night and LOVED it!!!! I dissolved about 5 capsules of 1000 mg biotin in half a cup of hot water. Then I broke open another 5 capsules of 5000 mg biotin and stirred it in. Then I filled the rest of the cup with EVOO and stirred that mixture together. Next, I poured the entire mixture into half a bottle of VO5 Strawberries and Cream Conditioner.

Ladies, it truly works as I have only 10 strands of hair in the comb when it usually looks like a good handful of hair. /images/graemlins/smile.gif This is going to be a new regular thing for me!!!

Excellent Idea. I have two bottles of Biotin sitting around. I stopped taking it for the same reason. Time to make use of them. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm in the process of buying some more Biotin from Wal-Mart this weekend. This is an excellent idea to use it in your conditioner. Your hair will thank you for it. I'll give it a try Saturday.

my results were EXTREMELY soft, frizz-free hair and yes, less shedding. It'll be the day when I don't see any hair on my shower comb but yes I will be doing this from now on, I don't even think I'm going to take Biotin orally anymore I'm going to experiment and see if doing this alone will increase my growth the same as the pills did...

Hey everyone it's me with an update:

After I took my braids out, I didn't shampoo my hair; I just detangled really well (Hair Lady's Take Down Braids Video). Anywho, I did the treatment and just rinsed, I lost about 20 hairs totally (a penny sized ball of hair) after rinsing the treatment. That is after wearing braids for eight weeks! I am so glad to hear my "experiment" worked for some of you. Happy hair growing!!

Where are you ladies getting your Biotin capsules from? Any national chains like sav on, osco, wal mart, walgreens?

/images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif...I might have to try this! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

it worked for me, but I haven't done it since I switched over to DDTA conditioner. Might go back to it when I use my suave milk & honey, I change conditioners every month so that my hair doesn't get used to just one.

Has anyone just crushed the Biotin and stirred the powder into conditioner? Skipping the water and evoo?

I think biotin is water soluble so it wouldn't be "active" if you didn't mix it with water first.

I'm not positive though.
