I've been thinking about hairdresser etiquette and all. But um do you think its kind of intimidating to a hair dresser if you bring your own products to the shop? Has anyone ever done this?
I do it now I am home.
My hairdresser has even started looking into some of my products-like Elasta QP Mango butter.
But most of the time I wash my hair at home and just let her style it or rollerset it (i do not know how to fit all those rollers in my head).
She is cool with it. I did it really slyly, telling her I found certain products help with my tangles. Now I realize it is your hair...do what you want to with it!
You know what, I don't see it as disrespect at all. I to go to the salon and I have brought in my own prodcts! I brought in a product called Bumble and Bumble Straight, that is a product that makes your hair silky smooth and get's rid of the curls, because I have curly hair and I get my hair pressed, plus you use it with a blow dryer. My beautician used that, and let me tell you...she loved it! She loved it so much that she bought it and uses it on her other clients! I don't see anything wrong with that. Sometimes, you just probably don't like what they use, and would like to use your own products because it works best for you. It can also introduce them to new products and as you can see, she told me by using this product that it makes her job easier! So, it can be a plus if you know what I mean.
I do that only if I go to a Dominican salon for a rollarset and alot of other girls do that too. I'm not sure what they use and have heard alot about filling containers and not knowing what's in them.
I just prefer to use my stuff too since I already know it 'agrees' with me.
When I go to a Dominican salon, I always bring my own products. I don't think it's disrespectful. As a matter of fact, I'm going to start bringing my own conditioner when my regular stylist does my relaxer touch ups.
When I wanted my stylist to do a Cellophanes rinse on me, I brought my Sebastian's bottle with me. Another colorist there gave it a huge thumbs up. My stylist, whose "expertise" was as a colorist, had never heard of it.
In fact, she wanted to know where I bought mine. I don't think it's disrespectful to bring products if they work better for your hair than what the salon uses.
Sometimes I feel away, but i go to the Dominican salon and most people there bring there own EVERYTHING. At first, I would only bring my own conditioner, now I bring my own shampoo, conditioner, serum, I am also going to buy a rinse to bring so that my hair is easily detangled after they wash it. Like BRH said, I know what I bring agrees with my hair. And yes, many of them do water thier products down.
No its not. They want to charge you what they want to charge you. Have you wait hours on end while they are triple booked every half hour. Then perform a service for you with inferior products. They should be happy they are conserving there less effective product!
I ALWAYS bring my own products. I never let them us their own. I'm even going to begin bringing neutralizing shampoo when I get my touchups - JUST to be sure.
