cause mine is. i've always had dark brown (almost black) hair. ever since i started my regime my hair is actually black. i can't even see the highlights i got almost a year ago! did this happen to anyone else?

Yep thats true for me. Ever since my sister and I found this board and went natural my mother has commented how much shinier our hair has become. She even asked my sister if we had dyed it black.

Me too!!

Although all my hair is natural. Since Ihave been taking the vitamins and following healthier procedures, I can see the difference in my new growth.

My hair became jet black when I went natural. The chemicals just make your hair soo much lighter!

I totally agree...my hair was always dark brown until I start taking better care of it and transitioning. It's back to its original color

Yea, I've also found that many of the moisturizing products I use also contain suncreens which protect my hair from lightening up in the sun.

sunscreen? that explains a lot.

yeah......and the sad part is me thinking i was "blessed" with brown hair. meanwhile its really overprocessed damaged hair from all the chemicals. Now its almost straight up black. the roots especially are jet black.

I'm so glad that you opened this thread. I thought it was just me.
While coming closer to the end of my stretch I looked at my hair and found it looked kinda dull, and then I realised that it was about that time to do a touch up (12 weeks)
Now my hair looks so jet black again, it's so pretty!
I havent had my jet black hair for quite a few years. Being consistent with my hair care is really paying off now :D

Same here!

I've been wondering if castor oil is making my hair darker but maybe it's because it is getting healthier. Very interesting!
