Yes Diane's still alive and living in Cali. At least she was in 2002. She was a model apparently and she's got a daughter Alicia Witt who's an actress/pianist.

Found a picture of Diane sporting her hair the way she wore it in a braid on a website of other long haired people.

Lord, I am praying that if it be your will, allow my hair to reach a healthy length of waistlength... I don't want 10 feet of hair, just waistlength. I'll trim if it gets longer than that. You said that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. As always, I'll give You the praise, honor and glory for allowing me to reach my goal. Amen!!!

I agree Brwnskingirl, I thought it was kinda freaky like when you see 9ft. tall people in the Guinness book of World Records. I don't want to be a side-show attraction, I just want nice, long, super healthy hair! Now, her hair does look very shiny and healthy and she's pretty and I love the colour! Actually, I think I do like it ON HER. ON ME..........well, I think I'd stop at butt length! Actually, I think sitting on it would get on my nerves too. Maybe just waist lenth! But I LOVE that beautiful braid hairstyle she wears! That's straight gorgeous! Yippy for Dianne Witt!! I'm sure having the longest hair in the world does get her a lot of traveling engagements and special appearances on TV shows, etc! So that's really cool!!
 
like the braid/updo that she has(won't go out in public though). Went to the site, I like Xiao Fang's updo too. For some reason...whenever I look at that chick's hair I keep thinking of her tripping over her hair one day and getting so tangled in the strands that she'll look like one of these captives in those white nets that you see in action/war flicks...or the A-team?

I sure wouldn't want it to drag the floor getting so dirty! Yuck! Dianne HAS to wear it up! I bet the only time she wears it down is for special appearances, and then she has to carry it! Has she ever cut it in her whole life? I bet not! Anybody remember Crystal Gayle, the country singer with the knee length hair? She could work that and still do all her concerts and stuff and it wouldn't be dragging the floor. I'm sure that when she sat down she would just put her hair up on another chair or wrap it around herself a few times so it wouldn't touch the floor! That's nice, but too long for me! I don't want hair that's an annoyance! My ultimate goal is Waist or maybe Tailbone length! It seems like just about everyone here has a goal of Waist length or so. That's a good workable, yet incredibly long and healthy length!
 
Cocoa, Diane HAS cut her hair before, which is why its growth has marvelled people. They mention when she last cut it at this link although because the picture isn't dated, it's hard to tell how long it took to grow it to that length. I think I saw somewhere else where they said she cut it in 1961 so I don't know if that's a typo or if she's cut it both in 1961 and in 1981.

Found the other "story" about cutting her hair that mentions 1961. It was at one of the links above. Methinks it should be 1981 just coz I believe the 1981 account is from the Guiness Book of World Records and I think they'd sorta try to get their facts right. Don't you?
 
Wow! That's amazing. I just assumed she had never cut it her whole life! This is apparently a case of genetics! It probably doesn't matter what she does.......her hair is just going to grow and grow and grow! I bet she doesn't even take any hair vitamins. She probably shampoos with Johnson's baby Shampoo or something random like that. It's just in her jeans! I thought my cousins and Aunts could really grow hair (many are waist length and it's genetics more than what they use or do to it) but that's nothing compared to hair almost 5 feet beyond your feet! Wow!
 
Sylvia Ziegler is half German and half Mexican (I believe) but she and her hair look very much AA, don't you think? Oh well, if she isn't quite...it's no biggie.

I met a girl who was half black and half Indian (Seminole) who had butt length hair that was so thick you could lose your arm in it. I only wish I had pictures.
