DH said my Jamaican Black castor oil smells like marijuana!!!

In any case, anyone know if all unrefined castor oil smells smoky? What's in it?

I do remember when my grandma would rub this stuff through my hair, it does smell smokey but it works!

Black castor oil does smell smokey and disgusting, but it does not smell like marijuana.

It smells like an ashtray to me. I put some lavender oil in mine to alter the smell.

It smells kinda nutty to me. But I love it so much that I would prolly still use it no matter how it smelled. Great product! I just mix it with my conditioners and leave-ins. I do have some mixed with glycerin that does have a really strong smell but I got over it after I tried it.

ITA. To me, JB castor oil smells like stale cigarette smoke. That's why I've only used it once and have never looked back @ it...

Smelling like an ashtray is the perfect description!

Putting EO's in the oil is a great idea--I should do the same.

It smells like an ashtray to me. I put some lavender oil in mine to alter the smell.

The smell really doesn't bother me that much. I guess since I've smelled things like MTG and WGO my nose can handle strong scents.
