Hi Ladies,

I know a lot of you are using Henna, so you know that it can tangle your hair:(

Since my Hendigo experience on Saturday my hair has been harder to comb.:ohwell:

What tried and true methods have you discovered to overcome the tangling that comes after a Henna treatment?

I have tried just about everything and I haven't gotten any immediate results. I will be deep conditioning my hair again tonight in order to detangle it a little more.

Thanks in Advance:)

I always do 1 shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo, let it sit for a few mintes, rinse and DC. Tangles all gone:)

This sounds like a good idea. I am using Cream of Nature shampoo, the next time I will let it sit on the hair and then deep condition.

I think my problem may also be that I am texlaxed and 10 weeks post so my hair is more prone to tangling.

Thanks for the suggestion!:)

Matter of fact CON is what I used on Sunday and I'm 12 weeks post. Hope it works for you.

After I get all the henna out I always rinse with Vo5 Tea Therapy Conditioner BEFORE I shampoo. I apply it generously and work it through my hair gently with my fingers then rinse it out. If that's not enough to get the job done I will also use Aveda Sap Moss Concentrate as a pre-poo for a few minutes. I've never had a problem with tangling from henna with this method. I also deep condition after henna application. HTH.

What do you mix ure Henna with? My mix consists of Suave Milk & Honey Conditioner, olive oil, amla oil, coconut oil, and honey. All of those things serve to counter the natural dryness/tangling that Henna can cause. So detangling isnt a really big issue for me. I pretty much let the flow of the water (shower head) naturally detangle my hair, then i put into one braid. It airdries overnight, then i go to the salon where the stylists detangle after washing.

After adding coffee, honey, amla, conditioner, yogurt and oil to the henna, I conditioner wash three times with Suave Daily Clarifying Conditioner. I don't have to deep condition anymore. Detangling isn't a hassle.

If you clarify right after rinsing the henna, aren't you stripping your hair of all the goodness (yogurt, condish, henna and oils) you just put in?

Nah, that cheapy clarifying conditioner doesn't strip my hair. It helps with the rinsing.

I coat my hair in oil (usually amla) leave it overnight and detangle under running water. Don't poo just rinse.

 WOW!!! Just when I thought I knew everything I could ever need to know about hair here you ladies come droppin knowledge!!!!!:D

I am going to try everything you ladies mentioned. I have tried most of your recommendations but maybe doing a little bit of everything will work. I am really excited about the adding conditoner part and sleeping in Alma Oil. Thanks Everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D

What helped me the last time I did henna was for starters, not pile my hair to much on top of my head. I added diluted con to my rinse water then I pooed with con. Afterwards I conditioned for 30 mins with Queen Helene cholesterol. No matter what I do it tangles some but this makes it a little better.

I use double amla shampoo to help rinse all of the henna out. After that, I deep condition and let it sit for about 10 minutes. The deep conditioning process helps soften my hair and makes detangling in the shower easier.

I made an observation last night while applying my alma oil. It seems that the Henna and Indigo coat the hair strand making it thicker. Each strand that is coated is more likely to stick to another strand with this Henna or Indigo coating. This is probably why I have so much tangling. I will be upping the amount of oil in my hair in the next couple of days to try to overcome this issue.:)
