Last week I got my hair professionally done-- washed, blow dry, flat iron. I usually do my own hair but was really stressed out due to some very serious family problems and I had to have my hair done but I honestly did not have the strength to do it myself. I am 4 something texturized, fine but dense, soft texture. I am 5 months post my last texturizer. My hair is 12-14 inches tops and sides and about 10 inches at the nape.

I did speak with stylist about moderate blow dry heat and low flatiron heat for my hair. She agreed and thought we were on the same page. The bottom line. my hair is dried out with split ends everywhere, thinned out and has much breakage. I am in shock!

Can someone please advise as to whether you have every eccountered these issues and how you handled it. I am afraid that I will now how to cut all of my hair off as some of the splits are all the way up the hair shaft. i don't think anything absent a cut down to the roots will remedy the problem. i can't believe all this hard work down the drain. I have never had my hair cut down to the roots(1-2 inches) and I am totally afraid. Should I just go ahead and cut it all off now as there is no point in prolonging the matter if this is the only remedy. i hve given myself a protein treatment (dudley's drc-28) followed by moisturizing conditioner . (humecto). Hair is hard , dull and generally a mess. Your advice please!!! Thanks!

Girl you betta not cut all of your hair off before trying to nurse it back to health. I recently had to cut off four inches of hair due to some color drying it out badly. I was able to save my have by doing a deep conditioning every 4 days with a Motions CPR recipe that Puddles suggested.

That recipe saved my hair because even after cutting it the breakage did not stop. It only stop after trying the cpr.

I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. I know things will get better very soon but please don't be so quick to cut it!

can you please give me the recipe please. I am desperate here. thanks so much.

[Qbumping. can u guys please try and help me out. please. thank u. i am really rady to give up on this hair thing.

Sorry to hear about your hair. I have fought off dry hair before but never any split ends. But I don't think you should cut your hair. I do believe you can nurse your hair back to health. Just trim it and try to build the moisture level back up. Whatever you do, don't give up cause you will regret it if you cut it off. I built my hair back up after a relaxer reverted and I attempted to re straighten all of my hair again with another chemical 15 wks later. It led to dry hair without breakage. I got a plan together to give it time, moisture and a low manipulative hair style and a maintanence schedule. I washed twice a week, on both of those days I did a deep moisturizing conditioner but one of those days the moisturizing cond came after the a protein conditioner. Following the moisturizing deep conditioner I used a leave in conditioner followed by a moisturizer and then a hair oil. Either surge oil and jojoba oil or wgho and jojoba. Followed by a roller set with rod rollers so that I could leave them in over night to dry without heat then more jojoba oil and a coconut hair grease for shine and to seal in the moisture further. It might sound like a lot but I am very gratful for the results now. My hair is now healthy and at it's longest it's been in 12 yrs. It swings and bounces and I am proof that dried out, overprocessed hair doesn't have to be cut off. It just needs protein. lots of moisture, NO direct heat, a easy style, a maintance schedule and lots of patience.

thank u so muc for your responses. I will try these things and also give myself a deep trim/cut --probably 2-3 inches for starters and will continue to not have it texturized for a few more months (been 5 months.) I f hair gets better will texturize latter part of the year. Meantime, no more PROFESSIONALS for me. All they have ever done for me is cause me "hair loss and grief." thanks again.

i really don't think u should cut your hair.

just lay off the heat.
do alot of deep conditioning with extra moisture and some strengthing treatments.
keep your hair very moisturized. use lots of creams and leave-ins.

recommendations
biolage ultra hydrating balm(moisture)
phyto ultra nourishing conditioner(for strength)
kenra(leave-in)
any cream for asha's naturals

hope this helps

thanks so much everyone for your responses and help. I will try these things first before cutting it all off. after all, if these measures fail, I can later cut it. I pray that something works and I won't have to start all over again. I tell you this hair thing is really difficult. I never imagined how hard it would be to grow hair and one thing can throw u all the way back. thank God for this board. will let u know how it goes.

YOUR HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL!!! Thick, looks healthy in the pics. I am sorry for your bad experience. I don't think all stylists are bad. Everyone's hair reacts differently to different products and techniques and her being unfamiliar with your hair, she made a mistake. Is this a stylist you have been to before?

Anyhow, good luck correcting the problem and I agree with the others, DO NOT CUT!!!
