Hi Ladies,

So after hearing all about these brushes and the wonders they do, I decided to get one. Problem is, I'm not sure if I bought the "right one" (there were so many choices in front of me!). The one I purchased was the D4 - which one are you ladies using? Does it not matter which one you get? Do they all detangle the same? I'm worried that my $15 just went down the drain...:perplexed

I think most people have this one:

It's the Denman D3.

I have a new D5. IMO all Denmans are not all the same.

I did have a D4. Once I wore it out, I got the D5. I had the D4 for 2 years. I have much more hair now and needed the counter balance of the heavier handle.

Whatever you do, DO NOT rip through your hair with this brush, moisturize your hair, detangle first with a wide comb, then use the brush to smooth the hair slowly. Start at the ends and work your way up, and TAKE YOUR TIME (thats essential)

I do not use this brush on dry hair because IMO its really not great for that. Get a boar bristle brush if you need to smooth your hair dry.

I do not use it on sopping wet hair either.

I never see a lot of hair in my denman brush. I've seen more come out when I do far stupider stuff (like trying to roll my hair:ohwell:)

Its a fantastic tool to have if used properly.

I don't think you've wasted your money, because I think it's best to have two different models of Denman, anyway: a wide-bristled one for detangling and the more classic ones (like I think yours is) with the narrower bristles to use at the end of your styling session for definition.

I got these two models last month and really like them on my Scary Spice curls:

Denman Classic #D3 7-Row Medium Style Brush
Denman Freeflow Styling Brush 9 Row #D41

Arcadian also gave good advice.

I totally agree....you def have to be careful because these brush can/will pull you hair out. I have the D3 & love it! But like she stated, I start detangling/dry with wide tooth comb then finish up with my D3. :yep:

I am also using the D4, I bought TWO. lol. I like them so much. I keep one for wet hair and dry hair. They work very nicely on wet hair and distributing the conditioners and oils.

(BTW) This brush has not ripped my hair out. I use on wet and dry without a problem or glitch. But that is my hair. And it depends on how you brush it too.

I love my denman so much that I use it instead of a fine tooth comb when I do the chase method of flat ironing. Combs always break my hair and I am so afraid of the seams on most combs!

The denman also will get out all of the shed hair that is in your head. Before I had one I always had those one or two strands that were hanging too low or was always getting hair in my hand when I touched it or all over the bathroom floor. I was always getting hair everywhere. I always have hardly any hair in the brush. In the newest folder in my fotki you can see how much hair I lost brushing my dry dirty hair out with the denman.

I just purchased the D41 from Folica (super fast shipping) I LOVE it! It' the best IMO for detangling afro curly hair. I also have a D3 that I purchased 4 yrs ago. IMO it's better for when hair is a shorter length. I get minimal shed hair when using my D41. I now use the D3 too smooth the ends and near the hair line when wearing my hair back in a pony.

HTH

Sunshine One,

I have absolutely thought:scratchch about getting the D41. I may just get one the end of this week! I kept looking at it before I purchase my other D4. Now you convinced me. I am soooo hooked on Denman's now.
