I was getting a lot of breakage after my relaxer--little short hairs everywhere just when I touched my hair! So I decided to shampoo with Giovanni Magnetic Shampoo and deep condition with ORS Replenishing pak and do a (H.A.M.) roller set and the breakage still didn't stop. Finally, I spent the $6 to get my NTM leave-in and used that every night for three nights with Kemi Oyl now and the breakage slowly stopped. Is that normal? I thought breakage was supposed to stop instantly.

This happened to me before. Lots of small pieces of hair. I did a few searches and then did a protein then moisturizing deep condition and it stopped. Don't know if this helps you but you can always go back to a strand test on wet hair (need moisture vs protein etc) and treat based on that.

HTH
I am sure if this is not helpful other input will be coming soon !!

Well, a lot of times it depends on the products. Some products that claim to stop breakage instantly really don't, or they may for some people and may not for others. Do you have a heavy protein reconstructor?

I am going through this right now. As I type, I sit with Motions CPR in my hair. This has always helped after a relaxer.

I actually used this for the first time today, and was pretty impressed. Are you still using SE mild?

Why did you decide not to use any protein?

I'm SOOO afraid of hard core protein! I'm always afraid it'll break my hair off more! Even when I know my hair is a bit stretchy, I still deep condition with something with a little protein like the ORS pak. I just can't get over the fear of hard core protein because of the horror stories I've heard. I will probably try the CPR next time after a relaxer though. Thanks Letitia.

It depends on the products, usually hardcore protein will stop breakage from a bad relaxer experience right away. Some products may take a few treatments.
