Deep condtioning woes

No matter what I do I can't seem to find a deep conditioner that gives me the moisturizing properties that I'm looking for. I've tried cholesterols (liked lekair for a litte while , then it stopped working) and things that specifially claim to be deep conditioners without success. I'm leery about using really expensive ones because sometimes I come out with the same if not worse results with professional products. Plus I know that there has to be a reasonably priced very moisturizing deep conditioner out there.
Especially now, since thoughts of going natural are crossing my mind and I'm not planning on getting a touch up for several months so that I can decide, I'm looking for a very thick cream deep conditioner. Suggesions?

First tell us what all you have tried.I too don't feel as though I've found my "perfect" moisturizing conditioner.

Paul Mitchell Super Charged(heavy) or Elucence Moisture Balaancing(lighter) and a warm dryer give me a good moisturizing treatment.

I like the aubrey products

I recently discovered that not all LeKair cholesterols are created equal!!! The last one I bought isn’t performing as well as the one I had purchased prior to it. The packaging is similar, they are both peach in colour; both LeKair cholesterol plus strengthening and conditioning creams.
A close look at the containers revealed that one reads ‘professional strength’ and the other ‘salon tested’. The less effective ST formula came with a 4 oz free offer…..

The PS formula (the better one by far!) uniquely contains cetearyl alcohol, hydrogenated castor oil, hydrolysed collagen, citric acid, vitamin E acetate, Vit A & E and Tetrasodium EDTA.
Because of this, the difference btw the two is amazing! Don't give up on LeKair.... just pick the right one!

Kenyana,

Thanks for posting that. What are the directions on the back of the PS one? How long does it say to leave it on for?

Thank you.

Ur welcome PBE.
The saddest thing is, other than the list of ingredients and the tiny PS or ST inscription on the container there is NO difference btw the two. Both claim to strengthen, deep condition and moisturise dry brittle and chemically processed hair (same claim word 4 word!) the directions for use, fragrance & colouring are also the same.

What about Deep Brilliance SG?

My fav for now is Redken Butter Treat. But my hair loves cones.

I also like Kenra MC and a few others.

I like Motions Silk Protien and their Critical Repair Conditioners. I always add evoo and honey to all my deep conditioners. Maybe this would work for you too.

I agree, EVOO never fails to give my condtioners a boost.

I have a similar problem....when ever I try to leave on my favorite conditioners (Humectress and UANs) for more than a few minutes, it loses its ommph and my hair doesnt feel soft, moist, and buttery like it does when I leave these products on for a few minutes in a steamy shower. Im gonna try the Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat soon, hopefully w/ better results.

Remember, that hair gets used to certain conditioners after many uses. You've got to switch up often.

I've noticed this lately too, but I wonder what is the reason for that?? You would think that the longer the conditioner is left in, the better!! Funny that sometimes this is the case, but sometimes not...

It's also really weird how some conditioners work great with heat, and others don't. It must have something to do with the ingredients...

NEXXUS Humatress mixed with HONEY is the best, i also noticed the more you use it the better your hair feels.

This sounds great I will have to mix the honey and humectress in a plastic cup and give it a try.

Heat the honey a little first - I usally put it in the micro for like 3 seconds, just to make it liquidy, it will thicken up when you add the Humatress.

Affirm FiberGuard Sustenance Fortifying Treatment is very good, but also very expensive....

I think the reason is because once the conditioner penetrates to the cortex you sometimes lose the buttery feeling from the surface of the hair unless it is also designed to coat the shaft with cones (which, depending on your hair, can be a good or a bad thing) high on the ingredient list.

Once the hair shaft opens and the conditioner seeps in you don't get that "feel" but the conditoner still penetrates and does what it's supposed to do - it's just doesn't feel like it's working as well.

Just my opinion.

hiza, I have the 32oz bottle of sustenance fiberguard and I pay less than $25. I know a supplier and get it at cost. I also have a 5lb tub of the humecto less than $20 and I also have 5-n-1. I only use the sustenance after the relaxer is rinsed out but since I am 9 weeks post touch up, I may go ahead and use it as a deep conditioner.

I was just gonna post what you said Tracy because we have discussed this! It does make sense, but I want the full experience of conditioning: the actual effects and the "oooh, aaaah" factor upon rinse-out!

i tried lekair and lustrasilk and i thawt they were "aight", until I started using Cathy Howse homemade conditioner. The recipe is...
16 oz. reconstructor
8 oz. olive oil
4 oz. coconut oil
2 teaspoons peppermint oil

This is the BEST conditioner I have ever used. My hair comes out feeling strong, and very moisturized. and the peppermint oil makes your scalp tingle. I'm in love with it. I use Motions Silk Protein as the reconstuctor (altho it isn't a reconstuctor. it jus has a good consistency for mixing in oils)
