Hey Hair Beauties!:hiya:

The last week of 2020. Can Ya'll Beweave it?:nono:

We made it through, much sadness and grief and disbelief at the times we find ourselves in.

We ALL need a Hug!

Praying 2021 will be a better year for us ALL. Peace, Love & Soul! :afro:

Prosperity, Respect, Kindness, Thoughtfulness, Appreciation of our fellow man and all the qualities the past 4 years seemed to be lacking.:grouphug3:

Let us do better in 2021. And keep our eyes on the Prize.

I really can't beweave it! My last wash day of 2020! Here's what I have doing on.

Today
Prepoo: Melanin Hair Care Leave In and Oil

Tomorrow
Cleanser: As I Am Growash
Protein DC: Mielle Babassu Oil and Mint Deep Conditioner
Leave-In: TGIN Green Tea Leave-In
Cream: Melanin Haircare Elongating-Style Cream
Oil: Melanin Haircare Oil

Gonna flat twist my hair and try out this wig thing again.

Tonight (technically yesterday) after everything else recorded on the forum to remember for later.. Washed everything out @ night
with Nexxus CS shampoo, and Nizoral.

DC (1 tspn honey,
globs of Curlific treatment by Aphogee,
Nexxus Diamtress conditioner,
hot water with 1/4 tspn amla dissolved in it, 1 Tablespoon of Abyssinian oil),
Rinsed out after about 50 min (no heat).

Leave in: globs of ic Fantasia HP aloe gel (tub), Camellia oil then MCT oil, then Avene tolerance extreme cleansing lotion..
In that order. The last 2 were also used on scalp where necessary. Braided.

Satin bonnet for the night.

For the rest of the week I Plan to do this trio (ic Fantasia gel, MCT oil, Avene tolerance plus maybe Camellia / Abyssinian oil) every other day after wash.

Water, Scurl (no SB!) and Revlon Uniq to refresh.

Will apply abyssinian and other oils about 1 hour prior to wash. No shea

This combo, had been my go-to from the middle of 2019 to March this year.. when my hair retained length
(Went from Above chin to SL) amazingly.

I had forgotten the name of the ic fantasia and my kid had emptied the tub...
or I'd have kept it up instead of subbing an over-the-top oil blend that cost me so much progress.

:blah:

Washing every other day (28, 30, etc.)
DC then leave ins above
Refreshing with water and Revlon Uniq or Scurl.
Braiding and twisting + relying on Jostylin/Fulani silk scarf method for sure (dampened and lightly oiled covered with satin bonnet)

It's funny because I have 2 pictures to prove how well this combo had previously worked:
health card renewal pic-
taken on March 3rd 2020 with healthy, thick SL hair..and then the driver's license photo (renewing photo ID) - taken March 30th 2020 ..visible damage, dryness, and short hair too.

The big change from when I was using these products up till early March 2020 and late march when I stopped.. it is motivation enough to carry on this way for a while. Worried that shea butter & co may bring malassezia back.

I think I will beretwisting my locs on 12/31...stay tuned.

Welp. I forgot my kids had 10,000 basketball games.

So, I got up early this morning (1/2) and washed my locs and:
  • Applied Clairol Professionals (Semi-Perm) in Mahogany Red around the perimeter of my hairline
  • Rinsed the color after 30 minutes and also used diluted shampoo.
  • Sprayed a mix of 5 parts water to 1 part Elucence MB Condish (my last bottle!) and steamed for 30 minutes.
  • Rinsed all of that out, and sprayed ACV/water mix to make sure my color doesn't run.

Now I am about to begin the retwist process using my Loc-N-Slay, water spray bottle, and clips. I will sit under the dryer for about 30-45 minutes after that.

Scurl in AM.
Then my mom mentioned something about how she would rather make it herself as she didn't trust all of its ingredients. Read about shedding from this for some, and became scared.
Shampooed: Nexxus CS and Nizoral Conditioner: Giovanni 50:50 left for 15 min. Washed that out with Summers Eve (it works well for sensitive skin as a face and body wash).

Leave in: ic Fantasia aloe gel + MCT oil. MCT for scalp. Braided. Monistat just now (hours later). First try, let's see. Major headache from it.
Will try it ongoing every other day I guess mixed with MCT oil, water, some tea tree and rosemary too.

Lesson learned. Don't follow advice of someone that doesn't have hair like you!

I went back to my normal routine --- detangling with conditioner and a spray bottle of water -- my curls are BACK!!!

What I used this week:

Detangle with Obia's Babassu Detangling Conditioner
Washed with AnnCarol's Shampoo (will use this until it is finished!)
Conditioned with Miche's Protein Conditioner (using up Camille Rose's Coconut Penetrating Conditoner-- I really like this and will repurchase).

Stylers
Curlsmith's Oil in Cream as a leave in
Curlsmith's Hydrostyle Flexi Jelly as a gel.

My hair came out great ---

I've been lazy the last few weeks with this product testing in the mix.

Today, I did my amla, fenugreek and aloe vera mask. My hair was slowly starting to shed just a tad more, so it was definitely missing this mask.

I will do a gentle shampoo, then stick with my strong protein condish (Komaza) before this product testing.

Therappe shampoo + Pantene RP conditioner + aloe/scurl/oils like a braid spray... still breakage.. rinsed..
Avene Tolerance Extreme cleansing lotion + Indeed labs Squalane oil on top especially ends.
and no more breakage since.. didnt like this oil due to how much is needed for a single day, but a user posted about squalane recently so I decided to go back to it since I keep a bottle in my car for emergencies.
.... :boxing:《--irrelevant but I thought it was the cutest smiley ever.

side note on Squalane: the mayumi is best for skin and hair including scalp
noticeably strengthened roots compared to others (indeed labs make a thinner one and that isn't cost-effective over time.
Just like the diff between Oshima Tsubaki's camellia and camellia oil for cooking)

the HABA (the 'improved' version in peach bottle too)
is pricey and TOO thin to do much...
mediocre to poor for either hair or skin.

The ordinary's hemi-squalane (also available at Lotioncrafters by another brand) is best used as a silicone substitute for hair (finishing shine effect) as it has a similar feel.

Haven't tried others. Had to use mayumi rather than sugarcane or olive derived for much of last year..
as it was the only thing that worked (with lasting effect). Have gone through multiple bottles of all of these over 3 yrs and honest opinion remains that Mayumi works best all around .. unfortunately..
One can get Mayumi from Swansons for the best deal online.

But indeed labs is ok for hair.

Today
SSI Blueberry Cowash
Fungreek Mask + Tropic Hair Feast DC (currently).

Not sure what I'm doing after this. I feel to prep for a braid out or twist out but I don't usually like the outcome, especially on my shrunken hair.

ETA: Applied SSI Juicy Curls Leave-In, then the Mane Choice 24K Twisting Gel and set with approx. 20 braids

My appointment was canceled due to a COVID scare. My stylist's colleague tested positive for COVID. Sooooo... maybe I will henna, blow-dry, flatiron, and cut my own hair this weekend. Or tomorrow...
I'm currently sitting on my couch with a minor sinus headache and APB OMG conditioner in my hair. I silk wash it out eventually...
I washed with Bask & Bloom Rhassoul shampoo bar. I did a henna treatment with leftovers from my last treatment. Now I'm stuck with conditioner in my hair until I have the energy to wash it out.
I will most likely place my hair in two plaits and call it a night.

Happy New Year's Eve!!!!!!!

@IDareT'sHair Thank you! I feel better. Puffs Plus w/ Vick's is everything. Ginger tea helps too.

I blow-dried and trimmed my hair today. I cut between 1-3 inches off all around. I realized that I may not know how to measure or I need my eyes checked. In a previous post, I stated that I had 4" of color to cut, yet after trimming my today, it is obvious that I had more than 4" of color, lol.

I measured my hair again, not just the color, and I'm between 9-10.5". I will measure my hair again after I flatiron.
