Hey Ladies, for those of you that have children, what exactly are you using for their hair and do you have any regimens for them? Reason I ask is because my daughter is 8, I'm not exactly sure what her hair type is (not really sure about my own) and after washing and conditioning her hair this evening, I found it hard to blow dry. It was tangled and it had sort of a rough feeling:eek: after the blow dry. I normally let it air dry (and braid it up-that's her in my avatar) but tomorrow is picture day and I wanted to press it and make it look really purrrty.:)
The products that I used; for the wash I used kids motions detangling poo, kids motions cond. and mnt cond. I let the cond sit with a cap for bout 15 minutes. Rinsed it out and added ORS hair mayo and began to blow dry. I'm assuming that was the wrong thing to do cuz it was too tangled and a lil matted. After getting through that, I added some oils to her scalp, blow dried with some heat protectant and pressed it with some pressing cream and heat protectant. It turned out nice.
Can someone tell me what I did wrong and what products you recommend? Oh and before styling I added some QP moisturizer.
I was gonna add pics but they were too big to upload.:(

Well I have a little boy and he finally has waves!! yay!! thanks to LHCF I would have thought my son had no wave potential after chopping his prety hair off when he was a baby.
I actually started co-washing him every night at bath time w/ suave milk and honey and put on some wave lotion and sport in waves in the black can and VOILA!!! waves!!!!! I regular poo once a week w/ suave humectant. Before his hair after a certain length looked like he had a bowl of milk poured on his head with cats sucking on it. lol. I/m excited about my baby's progress!! He told me tonite that he want his pic on my website!! lol He's 7 years old.

Well,

I have a 13 year old and a 3 year old. My 13 year old regimen is the same as mine but my 3 year old since she is a natural with real course, kinky, dry hair, I shampoo her hair with doo gro shampoo, deep condition (but not with heat) with doo gro intensive conditioner and put a plastic cap on and leave it on for 30 min, and apply doo gro stimulating hair oil and let her hair dry into four plaits, and once her hair is dry. I braid her hair and everyday I apply the hair oil or doo gro medicated triple strength grease on her scalp.HTH

Is that a leave in? I thought that was a dc that was to be rinsed out?

I think it may have been the ORS hair mayo. Did you wash this out after application? You stated that you blow dried after applying it.

My daughter is 3 and has some kinky arse hair! Products that soften is the key. I use detangling shampoos like Keracare (when she's on the counter and head is in the sink) or Loreals kids shampoo (this one is moisturizing too). Conditioners that soften really well were hard to find but AO White Camellia is really good. At this time I use the opportunity to detangle with a Denman brush and it slips right on thru. Giovanni's direct leave in is another I've used which works well. I haven't found another that works on her yet but still looking.

Avocado butter mixed with castor oil, olive oil and veg. oil is the last step. After that I just plait her hair up and let it airdry.

Lately I've tried Sunsilk conditioner (purple). It's ok but not as good as AO. I use the creme after I spritz with water to freshen up her hair in the mornings.

Not that I know of. It's the one that's in the jar. I think it's just hair mayo moisturizer. I hope I didn't read the label wrong.

No I didn't rinse it out cuz I didn't think I needed to.

I really would like to try the keracare line but it's costly. I live in the chicago area, where can I find Giovanni products? And what is AO White Camellia?

OH MY!!!!!!!! I was supposed to rinse it out. I hope I didn't do any permanent damage to my baby's hair. I've used it on my 2 year old sons hair before but it didn't give the same effect (thank God).

Thanks ladies for your feedback. I knew someone would come to the rescue.;)

No permanent damage was probably done. But her hair will probably need a lot of moisture to counteract that protein. You are welcome!:D

I have a nine yr old daughter. My suggestion is to wet her hair thoroughly for a few minutes then use a light moisturizing shampoo once just to remove some of the styling products from the press.Put Aphogee Balancing Moisturizing Conditioner on her hair and let is sit for 5 to 10 min before rinsing it out. This conditioner will soften her hair and add moisture since the ORS is a protein cond.

You can find Giovanni products and AO (Aubrey Organics) at the Vitamin Shoppe.
