Yesterday (monday), I had the brilliant idea of fixing what wasn't even broken. I decided to do Aph. 2 min reconstructor after previously doing a light protien the day before (sunday). And of course my hair broke off. It was easy to comb through it in the beginning, but then as i moved to the back of my hair, it just felt hard (It was def. my fault cause i left it in for too long (2 hours - i was housecleaning, ok?) and my hair is already a bit finicky with the 2 min. recon. :wallbash:
I would like to be able to do this at least a week before i relax, because it really does strengthen the hair, but this little mistake i did - just out of randomness - is really bugging me. But i do now know what i shouldn't do, so i guess i learned from it. But i just wanted to vent. I just really really really hope that it didn't mess up the 1.5 i was hoping to get from this summer. Oh well, since im a neck length newbie, and i have already mastered my regiment through trial and error, is suppose that my REAL hair care will OFFICIALLY begin after my relaxer this very thursday. Okay, I'm ready. Sorry, for the short novel. :drunk:

BTW, im pretty much just gonna wrap my hair in a doorag and not even look at it until relaxer day in two days. :pullhair:

Yes, OP, you live and learn. Now find yourself a fun little hobby so you stop doing needless things out of boredom coz I can't for the life of me figure out what would possess you to do what you did except that your fingers were itching to get busy.

And don't do things to your hair just to do them. Have a reason for doing them. Use protein if your hair is mushy or breaking or if you've gone a long time without using it, not the day after you just used it. :spank:

Also do not do new things just coz an LHCF someone said it was a good idea coz if your hair has been doing fine without that new wonder, then you most certainly don't need it. Listen to your hair and not that of others.

I just experienced something similar Sunday. I took out my braids detangled, shampoo'd, did the ApHogee 2 step and my hair locked. I used the protein because I will get my relaxer this weekend and wanted my hair to be strong prior to the application. It took me 3 hours to remove the knots and tangles and I ended up losing a lot of hair in the process. I was a little shocked because I ALWAYS do this protein step the week before my relaxer with no major problems. The only thing I can think of that was different is the amount of new growth (more) I have. My new growth is clearly not a fan of protein as it is super dry and hard and I've put every moisturizer/conditioner that I have on it. On the flip side, my relaxed hair feels great.

Keep us posted on your results.

Thanks nonie, I needed that little scolding lol
Gotta get back on track. Thank God for longhaircareforum and wonderful inspirations.

Same here!! My new growth was D-R-Y. I put S-curl activator/moisturisor on it and while my relaxed hair thrived (I LOVE LOVE LOVES-curl, btw, just wanted to add), my new growth, i kid you not, would not absorb it. Like it didn't even penetrate. NOTHING.

Yes, live and learn. And boy have I learned. Looking forward to the end of the new semester to check out my retention, that I WILL have
