Hey everyone, my BF wanted to know if anyone knew of any good dandruff shampoos out there? He's always laughing at me being on the site saying I'm addicted to lchf but now who's looking for answers on their hair :D How ironic!!!!!

80% of the time, when someone tells me they have dandruff, they really don't. Sniff your boyfriend's scalp. If it has a sick, bad smell to it, then its definitely dandruff. If his scalp doesn't stink, then he doesn't have dandruff, and a dandruff shampoo will only make the flakes worse.

I reccomend him not using soap on his hair at all (men are notorious for doing that). and that he use a conditioner only to wash his hair. Make sure it's a cheap, oil free conditioner. a ACV rinse wouldn't hurt either. Good luck.

Exactly! Dandruff has a very distinctive odor and appearance. If it's really dandruff, he should visit a dermatologist or trichologist who can prescribe a treatment plan (which may or may not include an over-the-counter shampoo).

If he just has flakes, it could be caused by hair product build-up, a natural increased shedding of skin cells, the environment, or an over-dry scalp. Many dandruff shampoos can actually exacerbate a dry scalp condition. A little trial and error may be needed, but keeping the hair moisturized and conditioned is important. Also, try scalp massages with tea tree oil. I’ve been doing this for years when my scalp became flaky, and it works. Now it is a part of my daily hair care routine and I have no flakes.
