Hello,

I am new to the list (and real hair care).

I think I am 4A just about shoulder length. I get a lye relaxer every 6-7 weeks.

My question is about daily hair care. Right now I work out heavily about 6 days a week.

I am washing my hair every other day now. At night I shampoo and condition with biosilk then use a mixture of ic and infusion leave in. I wrap it and cover with a tight wave cap before going to sleep. In the morning I use the biosilk therapy leave in and use the superstar ceramic iron(on the shampoo days). I just got/tried the iron for the first time 3 months ago. I was surprised by the fact that my hair seems to be growing out some and even feels more manageable. After the flat iron I use about 8 large carusso steam setting rollers all over to give some body and curl.

Although my hair looks and feels better than it has in a long time I would like to know more about the best ways to take care of and protect my hair with this routine. I take a multi vitamin (from purtains pride) along with some amino acids, B vitamins, biotin and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

I saw some posts about a lot of products/protein/leave ins. Can any one suggest some things for me to try/add/change?

Also as a last min thought...How many of you are married? I am single now and I think I would be self conscious doing the wrap and other rituals if I were sharing my room/bed with a future husband. I know, just a silly feeling, but its something I've thought about.

thanks for all the info

he will get used to it and so will you. Most men know that women have night rituals and are understanding about it.

About the married thing.

I think it depends on how comfortable you feel with your hair care routine. When I first married, I wanted to look cute for my man. I was afraid to even eat in from of him. As the years go by, he has seen me in about every situation including using the toilet (oh the horrors) and giving birth. I wear my hair wraps at night and he is still trying to get some, head wrap or no head wrap. He's my best buddy and I have grown not to let it phase me anymore. Although I make it a point to look cute when I take that head wrap down. And he notices that alot more than the head wrap.

Welcome to the board. I have been working out more too. I don't want set my hair back by doing the wrong things.

Welcome to the board. I am fairly new to (about 2 months) and from you stated my reccomendations would be.

-keep up the washing every 2 days but consider doing conditioner only washes and only using shampoo 1x per week. There are many threads here about that. It is basically washing hair using conditioner instead of shampoo. B/c shampoo is so drying to the hair. Here is one of many threads.

-look into wearing protective styles after washing so you dont have to use heat in your hair. Be careful with this one. It all depends on how you hair dries. There are alot of threads on this one to. Do a search for air drying or protective styles and they should come up.

-if you do use heat use a good heat protectant.

And about the married thing I agree with the other ladies. ESPECIALLY if you work out alot. I run with my bfriend almost everyday so trying to look cute with him is almost impossible. It sweats and running shoes all the way...
