Is it better to cut your hair before or after getting a relaxer? TIA

i'm 6.5 weeks post touchup and just cut some of mine last night. I wont get a touchup for about 5.5 more weeks but i dont notice any difference. I dont think it really matters but some may have a different take on it

I would say after, because when hair is all srunched up it may be difficult to really stretch accurately

Cut or TRIM? I would trim if necessary (you have split ends, raggedy, etc)before or after the perm. It shouldn't matter. However, if you are going to CUT it or trim for an even look then I would wait until AFTER the perm when your hair will be laying at it's full length and you can see what you're working with.

I was about six months post relaxer when I trimmed my hair. Because of all that new growth, it was easy for me to see the relaxed ends so I think that I lucked out (I didn't meed a trim after my relaxer).

But now that I will be relaxing more regularly, I agree with the other ladies that it would be better to trim after the relaxer as the hair lines up better.
