I just bought the Sta-Soft-Fro, and I like it so far, I just tried it on a peice of my hair, I need to use it consistently for about a week to know how I really feel.

Which one of these do you use and like/hate/tried?

I know some folks use S-curl, but i think they use it as a water-based moisturizer.....? Are you using yours this way, or to define your curls?

I'm using the Sta-Sof-Fro but the spray not the rub-on( I think it is the exact same thing...) It is helping to soften the new growth so I can stretch my relaxer. I haven't tried the others though. Someone will certainly chime in on their recommendations too. HHG!!:D

I will be 12 weeks post Wed. I will relax this Saturday.

I haven't used any of these but I was looking into buying some S-curl or sta-sof-fro for a moisturizer. For the ladies who use this, do you use it in the winter also? The bottle listed glycerine as the second or third ingredient and I wasn't quite sure how glycerine affects the hair in the winter since there isn't that much moisture in the air during that time.

I use the SSF spray to moisturize if I am wearing my hair curly, and sometimes spray it on for shine after I put my hair up. I have some CFC Gold that I bought to moisturize with stretching my relaxer but I have only used it once so far.

Softresses

i tried Beyong the zone noodlehead and it did NOTHING for my hair. i guess curl enhancers only work on natural hair since the hair's bonds aren't broken by the relaxing process.

MotownGirl.com has suggestions on how to dilute a glycerin solution in a dry, wintery environment (scroll to bottom of page, under "Vegetable Glycerin"):

Yeah Scurl was too sticky for me. But I am using the Sta-Soft-fro (activator moisturizer not the speay) one as a moisturizer. Just basicly doing the normal-moisturizing and sealing with a oil. I used it last night and my hair is so soft today and moisturized. I like the feeling but I can't help but thinking by the end of the week it will be too soft. As of right now it's making my hair feel non coarse and of a different texture, it's kinda weird, but I like :D .

I use S-Curl (my hair loves it!) and occasionally hijack my dad’s StaSofFro rub-on which works well and am thinking about getting my own tube....but why mess with a good thing? :p

s curl leaves my hair crunchy
I like sta soft fro but it leaves my hair a little sticky and builds up fast
I use Soft n free liquid curl activator spray every day followed by coconut oil
this combo leaves my hair soft all day with no greasiness or stickiness

I've used the Carefree Curl Gold Activator and didn't like the greasiness or white globs that resulted.

Scurl did nothing at all for my hair. I think it may have even dried it up a little bit.

I've found that activator gels work better for me than the creams/lotions.

I've been stretching my relaxer since 6/06, so my Sta-Soft-Fro rub-in is a must at this time for my NG. I am also stretching my washes anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to lessen manipulation, and I only apply Sta-Soft-Fro once during this time. The Sta-Soft-Fro keeps my NG soft and managable.

We are talking about the GEL-not the spray right?

Because for this particular post I am speaking of the gel/cream/lotion activators only not the sprays.

I've used the Right On and the Carefree Curl Gold. The Right On was sooo heavy for me. I won't use that one again. I had so me weighted down, gooey, greasy curls. The CC Gold is very good and I would use that again. I also like the Carefree Curl in the yellow spray bottle. That was what first got me onto curl activators. My stylist used it on me and once it dried and I touched my hair I was like whoa, who's hair is this. I just don't care for the smell of it so I use S-Curl now.

It does work different on relaxed hair but I think some relaxed ladies have had good results with it, you just have to use it a different way. I can't remember how to do it but Priestess put a post to the relaxed ladies in my noodlehead thread on how she did it.

I just made my own concoction of moisturising spray using SSF and Curl Free Curl 99.9% oil free. I have made many homemade moisturising sprays and they were either too light, or too heavey. I decided to add SSF spray to my distilled water, and also CFC activator and pantene hydrating curls conditioner and oil. I moisturise my hair every AM/PM and this concoction is working perfectly for my hair. I reasoned that these products are great by themselves to soften and moisturise the hair. I decided to dilute them a little bit so as to not have the greasiness and the buildup and it is working perfectly!

I use the Sofn' Free curl activator but I dilute it with water, add some MTG, shake and apply to scalp (mousse) or spray (spritz) hair all over. My hair (and scalp, no itching!) has been responding to this pretty well. :)
