But about your S/O...he will likely initially be a little put off but in time I bet he'll come around. For a few weeks after I bc'd my husband was looking at me likeAt first I felt a little sad
But then I just let it go and stayed focused on my hair goals. Now sometimes out of the corner of my eye I see him looking at me like this
again. I wish you all the best.
MissDiva said:The crown and glory method that I TRY to do is 2 months of braids and 2 months off, which is what is recommended on growingafrohairlong. This way you could do both. You can do the bun thing during your two months off and you'll have the best of both worlds.

Jewell said:I haven't been bunning it, and I'm 8 weeks post. I do super moisturize at night, and clip it up under a satin bonnet and scarf, and I do my CO washes 6 days a week. My S/O loves "Pocahontas" braids where I part my hair down the middle and have a plait on each side. I don't like them-I think they look kinda weird on me. He also likes it when I put my hair in like 8 braids for a braid-out. He doesn't like weaves of any kind, and gets mad if I cut or trim my hair in any way. He says he doesn't understand why women want to grow their hair but insist on trimming-he says every time it grows, we cut the same amount or more off...which is true in many cases. His mother has virgin hair that grazes her waist (she's African-American), and never really trimmed-which is probably the reason for his sentiment. It doesn't look scraggly either...she just gets a wash and very light press every couple of weeks or once a month...
Anyway, just do styles according to how your hair acts. I don't currently wear braids or protective styles (I wear my hair out everyday), but when and if my new growth gets to be too much to handle, and I end up breaking a comb off in my hair (which I've done before after braids), then I'll be getting some cornrows with a quickness!![]()
CantBeCopied said:Good Point. I have been bunning it since mid-Jan. and I am concerned about what that is doing to my back. Thanks.![]()
YOU GROW GIRL!!! You have to do what works for you, and if that means braiding, bunning, bantu knots, whatever-by all means do it. If you find something that works for your hair, by all means stick with it...that was a hard lesson for me to learn!CantBeCopied said:Thanks Jewell. My hair is not nearly as long as yours yet so I am lacking in the versatility department. It's going to be either braids or buns. Braid-outs at my length look silly on me. A couple more inches and I can do braid-outs and still reflect some length. But, I guess every S/O is different. Mine hates fake hair yet he prefers mine to be flowing and straight (which can only be achieved by blowdrying and flat/curl-ironing. But, these ladies are right....I am trying to grow my hair out for me and, if there are some techniques he may not like, he will have to accept them because I am working on a persoal goal.
