How do you keep your natural hair moisturized without the added hair slipping? I had my hair crocheted with loose hair friday and my braider told me to use oil sparingly but I don't want my hair to dry out. I wanted to spray my hair with a leave in conditioner every few days so that I won't have breakage. The type of hair that I used is toyokalon if that matters.

Click on this link to see some crochets. This also happens to be my braider. Mine is a looser curl pattern than the clients shown on her website.

This is the hair I used.

Yea and what kind of hair you used.....I can't see the name. Is crochet braids the same as interlock braids and tree braids?

Whenever I get mines crochet braided The lady always Loops the hair over (no knots) and you can do whatever to your own hair. I usually have curly or wavy hair and it just looks like my hair. But it sounds like you can't comb yours or else it will come out.

Nope I can't comb mine other than with my hands to finger comb it. She told me yesterday that the hair I used it thicker than the other hair she's used so I may be able to spray my scalp and scalp only with my leave in conditioner.

The brand of hair is Holiday Magic and it's the curly pony braid. The interlock is a little different than the crochets. I was originally going to have her do the interlocks and she did a couple of rows so that I could see and feel the difference. With the interlock you can actually move the hair that's added in back and forth because the hair is added as you're braiding the cornrow. I didn't like all of the movement. I haven't had the tree braids yet but I know that it's more time consuming to do.

can u tell me how it is done...i am very interested in this...looks great!
You braid your hair in cornrows the same way you do with a sew in and then use a crochet tool to push the added hair through your cornrows. Mine was done with a zigzag part in the front because I wanted my hair to fall to the sides of my face. My hair is cornrowed in a circular pattern but I've seen her braid other clients hair in various patterns.

You can go to my album, I have had crochet braids. I usually use whatever I want when I have the braids and they don't come out, because I create a loop like knot. Did she not tie a loop? You may have to tighten them occasionally, but the more you gunk it up actually the better them seem to stay in and begin to look more natural. Of course you should use hair with a curl pattern to help lock in place.

She tied a loop and she also put bonding glue on it so that it would hold better. I sprayed some surge on it an hour ago and so far so good. I don't like not being able to moisturize my hair because I have dye in it. Thanks for the tip on the type of hair pattern that's best for this style.:)
I just checked out your album and I love your hairstyles.

Cute pics. What brand/kind of hair did you use for your crochets? TIA.

OK..im thinking for my next hair style..i will try it out...i will do a regular sew in weave, and then for the top..since i dont know how to close the center,,i will crochet that area..that will give me practice too..
one more question..do u see the cornrows underneath? or will the crochet hair cover it up?

With mine you can see some of my cornrows in the front because I wanted it to part down the middle, hence the zigzag part, but they don't have to show if you don't want them to. You can also do combinations like cornrow pattern in the front half and then crochet on the back half.
