Crochet Braids - Which Hair

Which type of hair do you think would work better for crochet braids? I need to wash my hair , would love to do it once a week, but I can push it to a week and a half.

Which hair do you think would work better?


I would do it shorter maybe to hit the top of my shoulder

or this one...freetress go go curl. I prefer the first one, but I've heard that curly hair works better for crochet braids in terms of staying power and looking better for a longer time..and as I like to wash my hair maybe this is the one i should go with?

i really prefer the first one but my hairdresser just texted me back to say that 2nd (curlier )one would work better than first.

I have used the one in the second pic and I wouldn't recommend it because the knots act like they don't want to stay. My hair did not look like hers which is what I was going for. I am not sure about the washing part. What about toyokalon, kanekalon, or water wave?

She said that 2nd or 4th would work. I think I will try the 4th (last one) which I think is free tress deep twist

I just removed crochet braids with Kima wavy hair--similar to what's in the first pic. Cute wavy curls--but I hated how it TANGLED so much! Lots of brushing, shedding and snipping. I would go for the curlier one next install.

I think i'm being turned off by some off the curly ones that i'm seeing online because some of it is just too big. I think this one should be curly enough and I like how she didn't use 16 bags of hair. Someone asked a while back for an update about my wavy install - you're right the wavy doesn't stay put that well .

I'm still looking because the description of #1 and #4 says that that they're both the same type of hair and i wonder if i've confused myself and hairdresser with wavy vs. curly . I like #4 and # 5. I guess i'll go to the store to look at how the hair looks irl.

i'm the type who would take off the wig to scratch my head and forget to put it back on sometimes i wish i could be a wig wearer

i like the marley hair texture but it doesnt come pre curled or pre styled so that is more work after installation. the go go curl and presto curl look nice but im wondering if texture is still too soft.

It's just more practical for washing your hair.

I only use Marley hair and its worked fine. Im wearing my first wig at the moment. Its a natural looking crochet wig. It looks like a set my real hair.

It really depends on what style you go for. Whether you want it to resemble straight hair curled or kinky hair curled.

I'm trying to stretch my relaxer thru the summer. and weaves and wigs are a no go for me in 90 degree weather , with 100 degree heat index.

With regard to hair texture I like the wavy/ curly and the Marley hair but I don' t like the jherri curl looking texture (which to me are those similar to the water wave)...and I want some type of longevity as I'm not installing it myself. And i hesitate to use Marley hair because of curling and ongoing hair maintenance requirements

No I didn't do another install it was just too hot that summer. My braider preferred the water wave and I found a style using that hair that I thought that I would be able to live with but I didn't go back as the summer heat was too much for me. I've seen a marley hair install irl and it looked really good. That lady is a hairdresser tho so the curling requirement wasn't a big deal for her.
