Hi Ladies,

I am still trying to figure out how to use this new board, so searching has been a bit difficult for me..
If you know any links, please share..

My question is, will my crocheted hair fall and turn into a huge puff is it gets wet?
I did my install on Friday, and curled the hair with hot water. I used the Janet Noir Marley hair.

I thought this could be a good protective style since I'll be going away on vacation next week. Thinking about it now, I don't think I made the right choice. I feel when it gets wet, I'm going to have a problem..

What are your suggestions if any?

TIA..

According to the person who does my crochet braids, the brand of hair makes a lot of difference. The hot water also has to be really hot. The hair will not fall because it's curled together when you roller set it. I wash mine with no problem. It doesn't get frizzy, no puff, nothing. To the day I took down my last crochet braids at 10 weeks, people were still telling me how nice it is.

I've used both the brand you used and Senastionnel Soft and Silky Afro Natural and I agree with Keen. I played carnival with mine and got paint all up in my hair. I washed it and the curls stayed put. The only knotting that occurred was if I tried to separate my dipped curls (to be expected) but then I'd just cut the knots out and it still looked great.

But to be fair I did have to reset my curls at least once (if I wear braids I wear them for months at a time). I preferred the ease of free tress waterwave or bohemian wave hair with crochet braids. Zero styling required after your initial install/cut. I love that.

Thanks... I only plan to wear this for 2-3 weeks tops.. Hopefully the style can last within that time, even after getting wet..

I've only used pre-curled hair for crochet so I cannot comment from experience; however, the marley crochet installs I've seen need to be re-curled every 2 - 3 weeks. Some women have commented that their curls fall within days. The type of hair really does matter.

I'd imagine for some types of hair you need to physically brush the curls out and re-dip them in hot water for a new curl pattern?

I'm interested to know what kind of hair you use @Keen ?
If I found hair that did not need to be re-curled (aka dipped in scalding water) I might try a Marley style.
