In hair purgatory
Has anyone done this? i dont like cowashing but im wondering if its because of the type of conditioner i used. Perhaps using a dc would be better

fyi when i cowashed i mainly used cheapies like vo5,suave,aussie moist,tresemme.... mainly drugstore condish

i think DC condishes (atleast mine) would be too...and probably a waste of money since they generally cost more than normal daily conditioners, and alot of it would just be immediately rinsed out and going down the drain.

I have in the past and it worked fine. Most deep conditioners don't have the slip that I need for detangling but I have found a few that do pretty well.

I just did this actually. Co-washed with Motions Moisture Plus conditioner (extremely thick DC)...I like the results a lot :)

ETA: I only cowash about once a week, but if you're a daily cowasher this might be different

I dont cowash daily. If i started to co wash it would be a mid week wash.

Some people do this with Hairveda Sitrinillah. I generally don't because it's too expensive, but I plan to try it.

I used to occasionally cowash with Giovanni SAS when I got the liters from TJ Maxx. I think it was around 33 oz for 12 bucks. I used it mainly as a deep conditioner but when I didn't have enough time, I'd just leave this on for a few minutes and rinse out.

I cowashed daily with aussie 3MM for a long time. I shampooed once a week and never had any issues with buildup.
I stopped doing it a few months ago once I started going on hair boards and learning about silicones and reading reviews of new products I want to try. So now I have a bunch of regular silicone free conditioners that i'm trying to get through and I think I will ultimately go back to my 3MM because I haven't found anything that compares to it

I've done it with ORS. But its not something I do regularly. My hair was a lot softer. I typically use VO5 or Herbal Essence Hello Hydration.

I do the same thing.. I like the way it works, I don't feel the need to rave about it, but it works. Though I've never cowashed before straightening, because I'm afraid my hair won't have the body I'm used to having but I guess i'll never know for sure until I try it.

I don't want to just repeat what everyone else has said, but I "cowash" with a deep conditioner. My routine is something like rinse hair, apply d/c and camelia oil, let it sit for any where from 15 minutes to hours, rinse and style. If I really need to detangle I will apply a conditioner with more slip (but I rarely have to do this). I'm currently pooing only once a month or so. Regular co-washing never work for me suave, aussie, vo5 seemed to coat my hair but when it dried it would feel dry and rough. This has been my routine for a while Sometimes I will just d/c on dry hair rinse and roller set. I haven't had a problem with oily hair when doing this.
